Nungesser has been talking about using the gas lamp district in San Diego as a model to reclaim an area who has a huge problem with crime.
He said they are going to try and get Latoya to turn over police and garbage responsibilities to someone who would only be responsible for the FQ. He said something drastic has to be done because of how tourism is suffering because people are scared to travel to NOLA.

The crime issue was relatively under control before the lockdowns started. (at least by NOLA standards).
The daily “my car was broken into” threads do not agree with your summary.

What data did he cite for this quote? Tourism in NOLA has broken records year over year from what I recall.
Edit: and during peak tourism events, isn’t FQ/Bourbon already patrolled jointly by LSP and NOPD?

NOLA has had record years in tourism the past few years
obviously 2020 will be significantly down, but to try and blame that all on crime would be incredibly dishonest

Short of going all out nazi Germany on a certain demographic nothing will ever change. Has to change from within.

No data..
This is from 710 Keel's website.
"For the past few years New Orleans...has been trending down. Now, with the shutdown, we believe that if we don't clean up the Quarter and bring it back with a bang, it will have a negative impact on tourism as we open up the doors nationally and internationally. So goes New Orleans, so goes tourism around the state."
