Is There Anything More Uncomfortable Than The Couch in Labor and Delivery?

As I sit here for the 2nd time enjoying 3 hours of restless sleep I can't think of anything more uncomfortable to sit/lay on. I swear these are designed to be as uncomfortable as possible.

Squeezing a baby out of your twat is probably more uncomfortable

My guess would be the delivery table.

Ask your wife.

The worst is them coming in the room every hour and waking you up checking vitals amiright

The act of labor is one thing and obviously not a fun experience, but hospital beds these days are comfortable as shite
Actually a great idea, get a hospital bed for the dad. Can lay right next to the mom
Due to work (healthcare), we had VIP L&D rooms and a nice hospital and the couch was a trundle "bed" and it was still rock hard. I brought a camping sleep pad and sleeping bag and pillow for the second kid. Pro move.

Earbuds and long charging cords. Another pro move. I told the nurses "wake me up if I'm needed". If my wife needed me she just yelled or threw a pillow

The sleepless nights that are ahead of you will make you forget this callous post that selfishly ignores what your wife is going through.
That said, congratulations! Becoming a father is the best thing in the world.
Hang in there.

Trying to sleep in the hospital room chair while your kid is in the hospital bed says otherwise.

a friend of mine was the doc that delivered my first born, as soon as we got to the hospital(0 dark-thirty,) he took me back to the doctor's "lounge," it was like a nice den with comfortable furniture, including recliners, tv, etc., it also had several small bedrooms(for banging nurses I'm sure

Ah, very true. Forgot about that experience

I brought a pillow and a blanket with me to sleep on the couch. I also got up to help every time they needed to move my wife around with the epidural. I damn sure wasn't going to have them talking bad about me.

I would say the mom squeezing a baby though her vag is a tad more uncomfortable , but its very minimal.

At least you have a couch.
At the old womens hospital they had a reclining chair to sleep in. Hard to complain about sleeping uncomfortable for one night while the wife had been uncomfortable sleeping for months, and then was having a baby, but i'll be damned if that wasn't one of the worst nights of sleep i've ever had from a comfort standpoint.

I think that chair is designed so there is no position to lay on it that is comfortable. And nevermind whatever germs it's infested with.

I think it’s been scientifically proven that a woman giving birth feels almost as much pain as we do when hit in the nuts.

but we don't forever have to remind you that it's the most excruciating pain there is and men just can't fathom how painful it is
