In hindsight the couch is far more comfortable than what your SO is going through.

When my son was born my ex was in labor for 20 hours, if I started to fall asleep she would pelt me with ice from the ice bucket she had to crunch on.

They say that. But counter with the fact that it’s very common for women who’ve already given birth once to willingly do it again multiple times.

Try finding a guy who’s been hit the nut who wants to do it again.

Make sure to set up your gaming system and make uncomfortable sex jokes to the nurses to hit the trifecta!

I don't know what the standard is but we had couch and a recliner in our room. I tried to stay awake but those twins wouldn't come out until 10 am the next day.

For a guy.

Go back to the 90s when you got the "reclining" chair. Today's utes are wussies.

The prior generation wasnt even allowed in the room.....maybe they got it right:)

Yes

I was treated like a dumb child that was a nuisance in the room.

I almost murdered one of the nipple nazis that decided to pop in and see if we needed any guidance or wanted any information about breastfeeding at 5:00 in morning about 20 minutes after my wife finally was able to get some sleep after about 20 solid hours of being awake and in labor. I asked her nicely to leave, but she pressed on about the importance. It was the one time I couldn't muster any kindness, I broke and told her we already had kids, knew the deal and told her to frick off.

Make sure to tell your wife this. Several times.

She will understand.

This.

The couches aren't the most comfortable in the world. But unless you are a giant pussy, they are comfortable enough on which to get some sleep when you are really tired....until someone keeps popping in every 45 minutes to check on mom and baby.

it's a universal experience for men. and honestly, i kind of get it to an extent, i'm sure those nurses have seen a LOT of sorry arse men. but it doesnt make it any less irritating when it's you.
