The worst is them coming in the room every hour and waking you up checking vitals amiright
I had the same nurse (I won’t post her name but i remember it) for after my 3rd & 6th babies and she let me sleep the whole first night after birth
I could’ve done cartwheels that second day - even the nurse that took her place said after #6 ‘you don’t look like you’ve given birth at all’
Sleep is awesome

Actually a great idea, get a hospital bed for the dad. Can lay right next to the mom
Back in the day, most hospitals were double rooms with 2 patients to a room seperated by a sheet unless you requested or needed a single room which cost more. Even before that most hospitals serviced people in massive wards that were open and closed with curtains if you needed servicing.
So now that left some older hospitals with these massive rooms with just one bed in them. They could easily add a second twin bed to make it more comfortable for dad or spouse if they require long term care, but then you wouldn't create additional revenue by staying at their hospital hotel like Ochsner has at it's main campus.
Most newer hospitals are designed just for one bed. Not sure if this was because of HIPAA or now that insurance is pretty much standardized on single occupancy rooms.

HIPAA.
A non patient bed couldn't just be a $500 bed from Wayfair. It'd have to be hospital "certified" and would cost $9,000.
Men could bring in an $80 cot from Academy, but let's not problem solve.

As I sit here for the 2nd time enjoying 3 hours of restless sleep I can't think of anything more uncomfortable to sit/lay on. I swear these are designed to be as uncomfortable as possible

I think it’s been scientifically proven that a woman giving birth feels almost as much pain as we do when hit in the nuts

there were five of us kids, my mother told me that if it would have been up to my dad we'd have enough for a football team, she shut it down

Well, I've heard plenty of women say "let's have another baby."
I've never heard a guy say "kick me in the nuts again."

not unless you're prepared to pay an upcharge

I was sleeping halfway decent in a recliner until they decided to move us into the L&D unit at 3am. The lay down chair was absolute arse. I barely slept until I went home at 2am, 23 hours later. Still wouldn't trade those 34 hours for anything.

Or they could just roll you into one of those Old Charity Stadium seating operating rooms and let everyone have a look.

Did some tranny run that experiment?

Staying overnight in the hospital when my kid was born, I would have rather slept in an iron maiden than that fricking couch.

I brought an air mattress with me both times. Good luck.
