They talk about the afghans doing this to the Soviet soldiers in Charlie Wilson’s War - the book. They were afraid of going into battle bc of the brutality.

I’m sure being put inside that huge iron bull and slowly heated up is up there too.

That scene out of Casino Royale where Bond is tied to a chair with no bottom then repeatedly hit in the nuts with a large knotted rope ranks 1 for me.

An uncle was a Marine on Guadacanal & he told my dad, in answer to why he refused, post war, to buy anything made in Japan, that the Japs used to tie Marine prisoners to trees & leave them skinned alive. He died never breaking his promise. There were also stories how Japs would take a large spider, put it under a huge walnut-like shell taped over a Marine's eye. They would then heat the shell, causing the spider to eat its way inside the prisoner's eye. Eventually into his brain, killing him.
