The power move here would be to let you know they didn’t bring anything and still eat the food right in front of you

Things that should be common sense yet aren’t.

Yes there is…. It’s the food police in the fridge that throws food out. If it isn’t labeled or it’s been there for over a day.

I haven't been in an office in a while but off the top of my head:
-Microwaving fish
-Burning microwave popcorn
-Taking the last of the coffee and not making more
-Dialing out on speaker phone and then waiting to pick up the receiver

At least no one should get their feelings hurt.

Yeah, we are fully remote in other states, and it is great.

I don't eat homemade food from the homes of people I haven't been into, so workplace potlucks are a no for me.

I don't eat out for that specific reason.

And I've very particular about the food I buy and from where it comes. Prefabibly I grow it, kill it or catch it myself.

a potluck in an office of 100 people sounds kind of awful. I mean, if all 100 people brought food, where the hell would you even put all the food?

Eating someone lunch out of the refrigerator in the breakroom is worse.

Yeah 100 different dishes that’s feasible the space alone is probably not available. How about next year you plug your crock pot in at your desk at your cubical or if you bring food you get a ticket to get in to the pot luck.

Sorry, I asked for a raise but management threw us a potluck instead.

The power move is to always bring the good plates and cutlery.

I think that’s way too many people for a potluck. Was the expectation that all 100 people bring something? That sounds impractical.

Yeah, you work with some leaches but this was a bad idea from the word jump.

Say what you want, but I've been unfortunately surprised to learn many people I know live in an entirely different level of clean than I do.

I've learned people will leave certain food items out on the counter/table and continue to eat it for days. I've learned people let their pets walk on the tables and countertops, and they don't clean them down. I've learned some friends keep leftovers for a week+ and still eat them. I've learned people leave takeout/leftovers/groceries in their car all day long while we are out having drinks, and they'll unload them into the fridge or whatever when they get home.

I've had friends say things like, "I need to clean my stove this week".. because they don't clean their stovetop and surfaces down each night post-dinner.

I'm no longer surprised by any of it, but I am much wiser to partaking in random potlucks.
