Sports fans are fatter.
Whiskey Snobs are much more often part-time drinkers with other hobbies and activities. Sports fans will sit around drinking beer and watching sports all day. Easily fatter group.

I have the exact opposite experience. I find whiskey dudes to look like they do CrossFit. Just the other night some dude at the bar was going on about some Japanese whisky in a samurai shaped bottle and he was taller than me, so 6’1 or higher, and probably under 200 pounds.
