I've just gotten used to it, tbh. I've probably had a subscription for 10 years now, tried a few other services that were more expensive and nice but I'm an old fart set in my ways. I like turbo, nitro, Ozzy, classic rewind and classic vinyl. Faction is good too. Once you set up a library it doesn't take much to avoid DJs or music you aren't interested in.
Plus sxm isn't even trying with the price arguing anymore. I just reupped; called, told them I wanted to cancel, then told them I wouldn't pay over $6/mo. Was off the phone for a reduced price in less time than it takes me to crap.

And people actually pay money to subscribe to such a music service?
Not only do I get to listen to every Astros game, live college and pro football, but I also get to hear my crush, Rachel Steele. Best $ I’ve ever spent.

I can't remember which channel it was on but there was this female on either Classic Vinyl or No Shoes that I wished would just shut up.
The reason I have XM is my wife loves that 50s junk and there are no FM stations (hallelujah) that play it.
Sometimes I will tune in to Outlaw or Chris Stapleton channels in hopes I can catch Red Clay, Tyler Childers or Zach Top but I'm basically a podcast or AM radio kind of guy.

I’m not sure why DJ’s even exist anymore on the radio. Just play the playlist. I don’t want to hear you talk.

It's basically the same as hitting skip on a streaming app.
I listen to mostly XMU and The Spectrum, and the service functions just like FM used to. I'll hear something new and if I like it I'll go to my apple music and find the artist. Works much better for me because most of the time the new music is sprinkled in with the regular rotation, where in streaming apps the new music is just thrown at you all on a single playlist.

The one that made me violent was the College Morning show with Rick Neuheisel and Chris Childers. Chris Childers voice made me punch air. There were no other decent if any college football morning shows when these two were on. And it may have just been listening to that dipshit, Danny Kanell first that started a slow warm to when Chris Childers came on. I finally just said I can't listen to that frickin guy, any more.
I'd let Rachel Steele talk dirty to me, though.

There were definitely DJs before the merger.

It was best when it was just XM and there were no DJs.
When Sirius first started, I was an early adopter and there were no DJ’s and even teaser IDs. It was probably the closest thing to replicating a Muzak station. Not sure on the XM side as I never listened to XM. Back then Sirius was claiming CD quality audio even though most installations used a low power FM signal to go into your car radio. They dropped the CD claim as they added more and more specialized channels and more sports channels.
Eventually they started adding more DJ’s and went to a more radio format to compete with XM as they had DJ’s or even simulated traditional FM stations.
By the time the merger came, they had to merge the playlists, DJ’s and squeeze all the specialty and sports channels into each others bandwidth. That was really when the quality started sounding very thin and tinny. It would be years before they could sunset and merge the spectrum as dual XM and Sirius receivers became available.

Not on Fred or Lucy. Just played music. I find them annoying. XM played a little more deeper cuts overall vs Sirius playing basically just the hits from musicians. I tried both when they were separate.

It’s 2025. Do people still have SiriusXM?
