Wasn’t called a DD214 in WWII. Would be a NAVPERS-553 Notice of Separation. I got a copy of my grandfathers a couple of years ago and matched his ships to island campaigns. The ships are in block 24 and the campaigns will be in block 34 if you get it.

how to acquire DD-214

For me, I'd log into E benefits or go to the courthouse for mine, filed after I got out/returned home.

For others, fill out form for national archives, VA, or DOD. Or what that link says.

Just because you wore a military uniform doesn’t mean shite. It’s the character that counts, not clothes.

People who have been in the military should be able to be charged with stolen valor if their character was not to the highest standard.

How the hell are you going to police that outside of making it illegal to say you were in the military if you separated on an OTH, BCD, or DD?

I served with guys that ate Big Chicken Dinners who's character was higher than guys that retired even a couple of whom were ring knockers.

I know it's a stupid question. You ask it to see how the person you're trying to investigate reacts. If he's a phony, chances are he's just picked up on guys saying "I was an E-Whatever" and has no idea what the real ranks are called.

Navy records are actually the easiest to search for the WWII timeframe. If you'd like me to look for your dad's service history shoot me an email.

Is it really that important to you to bust this guy? What is the backstory here? If it is someone who is applying for a job and you want to know just ask for their DD-214. If it is just some idiot talking shite in a bar that happens often and is not worth the time or effort. Now if someone is trying to profit off of that than yeah it is a different story. Anyway you can try this ,but you have to print and mail them.

Pretty sure you're not getting someone else's DD214 without them giving it to you. I'm talking about people still alive. Because old records for deceased are a little different.

You may be out of luck. They had a large fire some time ago that burned up a lot of personnel records. No joke

I can help you. I was a Delta Force Navy Seal and can spot these scumbags a mile away.

First thing once someone gets out, they get one and once home, they would take it to their local court house and put a copy it into the records for safe keeping.

Vets are told to do this.

I will get more info this weekend and update my post. I am hesitant to get hemmed up with this guy on the subject.

His age would put him in during desert storm if he did serve. I will get what branch and more details.

Was there cases of chemical exposure to soldiers during DS?
