It contains Baton Rouge and New Orleans. On the north it shares a land border with Mississippi

Like the West Florida Parishes?
Edit: The Meth Super Highway? Cancer Ally is also parts of those areas.

North of the lake would be the Florida Parishes.
South of the lake would be the Isle d'Orleans.

The Florida Parishes. Part of it is The North Shore. The I-12 Corridor is another label.

Yes, that’s it. Thanks.
Just wondering because I noticed it contains two large cities, but never heard a specific name for that area

The Isle of Orleans is bordered by the Mississippi River, Bayou Manchac, Amite River, Lake Maurepas, Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico.

It isn't an island anymore. There used to be a small distributary from the Mississippi River to Lake Maurepas, making a large island with the lakes to the north and the river to the southwest.
The distributary was filled in to keep the British from coming in above New Orleans.

That would be the West Florida Republic which declared its independence from Spain in Sept 1810 and annexed by the United States in Dec 1810. Also the origin of the "Texas" Lone Star.

Florida Parishes, it is named this because for a brief period about 3 months it was its own independent country "The Republic of West Florida"
