Typically these off brand/grocery brand retailers have more negotiating power with manufactures and a better supply chain.

Not to mention brand name producers pay the big stores money for shelf placement, which eats into their margin.
Right. They're different business models so hard to determine which one is "better".

House brands are a pretty big business.

Even Rouses as a small regional chain of stores has gotten into the house brand market.

They have about 60-75% of their store inventory matched with their House brand next to the name brand item. They also fill in the gaps where they don’t have a house brand item to match with items from Best Choice or Always Save which are 2 large generic item names by one of their main distributors Associated Wholesale Grocers which has a large distribution center in Pearl River, LA.

Agreed. In order to be super profitable with store brands, you first have to have a somewhat successful chain of grocery stores, which probably isn't too easy to do.

Being the manufacturer for a store brand is probably the winner. Can do multiple brands and save a good deal on logistics if you have a store partner.

They need to actually add some real cream to that ice. Try Ben and Jerries.

It wouldn’t have been a Great Value Brand.

Walmart’s tool brand is HyperTough.

Electronics is ONN.

Lol @ you “fake Oreo” people. Don’t you know that Hydrox is the original sandwich cookie? Oreo is the cheap copy. You’ve all been had by Big Cookie!

I bet you all only use Band-Aid and Kool-Aide. SIMPS!

No thanks

It is just rebranding. Either the consumer wants to pay more for "a better brand" or the consumer wants to save a buck. Bases are covered

The milk is where it’s at. Milk is fricking milk and the Walmart brand is over a dollar cheaper than Borden or kleinpeter.

I can't agree with you on that. Wal Mart milk doest last as long. I buy my milk from Rouses, Dairy Fresh it's the cheapest one there and its pretty damn good.

Once upon a time this was true, but not anymore. Many of those old business units were absorbed by companies like Treehouse Foods.

But as odd as it is, you need to sell the name brand stuff to bring people in (even if they end up buying the discount).

I love generic copies of name brand foods. Cheaper, tasty, and I'm not paying for corporate dumbassery like Gay Oreos.

This is why you choose curbside and make them bring it to you.
