You should give the Porsche Macan S a look. It is a lot of fun.

I always love car threads on the ot where people suggest that OP consider a car more than double in price than the one he’s asking about.

OP: “Looking for reliable cars under $25k”
OT: “HAVE YOU CONSIDERED A MCLAREN F1?!???”

Maybe if you get the F sport package, otherwise I don’t think they’re known as a “drivers” car.
In that same segment, the Alfa Romeo Giulia is probably the best handling car. Then there are the stalwarts: BMW 3 series, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A3. Of those three, I’d look at the C-Class with some sort of AMG package or the 3 series with the M sport package (not the same as M2/M3).
OP, this is rock-solid advice.

RC
We test drove the Lexus RC350F and the Alfa Romeo sedan last time we were in Nashville. The RC was much more physically comfortable for me at 6’ but the Alfa was a fun as hell car to drive.
We also drove the RCF but that car is in a completely different class.

I always liked the IS though I don't have any experience with them. Other recommendations I don't think I've seen yet:
Subaru WRX/STI
Volkswagen Golf R
Focus RS

Former 05 IS owner. Yes it was fun to drive. Miss that little car.

Someone bought the new Lexus RCF at Price Leblanc the other day.

My Co-Worker leased a Giulia for 2 years and it spent 10% of that time in the shop. For some reason, he decided to lease another one, and it's already spent a month in the shop.

Anecdotal. That said, if he had a 2017 or early 2018, they were plagued by battery issues and random CEL lights. The battery issue is from the cars being built in Italy, shipped, then sitting on dealer lots too long without being driven. The CEL’s are usually fixed by disconnecting battery. Still annoying I’m sure.
I leased a 2019 and it’s been fantastic, just annoyed that the NOLA dealer closed so abruptly. The standard 2.0 i4 in the Giulia and the 8 speed ZF trans are stout and reliable, it’s just the occasional electronic gremlins you have to be prepared for. MotorTrends long term Giulia TI has been very reliable for them and many other owners have had good experiences. I love my car and wouldn’t consider anything else for what I paid.
Just a fun fact, the Giulia platform was designed by the team responsible for the Ferrari 458. The Giulia handles incredibly well for its class.

What other alfa romeo dealerships are in Louisiana?

The Lexus IS series has always been in my mind as an affordable car that doesn't look like a grocery wagon, but also 'appears' to be a driver's car.
Honestly the car looks like an angry dust-buster to me.
You can get a better driver's car with better styling from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Infiniti, Cadillac, Jaguar, Alpha, and Genesis.

Shreveport supposedly has one. Otherwise have to go to Houston. Only concern is for warranty work. Maintenance isn’t an issue, they aren’t exotic cars by any means.

Yea his first one was definitely a 2017. It was in the shop off and on, can't remember the problems. I do remember it taking forever once it got into the shop. His current one is a 2019 though, and it was in for about a month. Hopefully it won't ever have to go back in, but I doubt that will be the case.
ETA: At the end of the 2017 lease, we think it was burning oil. There would be smoke coming from under the hood, followed by a foul smell. He had enough of the car by that point, so he just turned it in like that.

Ah, bummer about the new one. It is what it is though, and most people that shop the Alfa’s know what they are getting into. I won’t sit here and pretend they are Toyota’s, but I do think majority of the problems are early year models and the top of the line Quadrifoglio’s. Hope they get him back on the road soon!
