And, did he not provide free health care to the blind man?

And the lepers?

How do conservative Christians justify these obvious conflicting beliefs between their political views and their religious beliefs?

A government taking my labor by force and giving it to someone who chooses not to labor is vastly different than my own personal decision to share my labor with someone.

This is a stupid thread. Jesus was not the government. Performing charitable acts, or encouraging others to do so, has nothing to do with acts forced by the government.

No justification necessary. The beliefs do not conflict. if every person gave as freely as Christians give to their fellow man, much of the world's problems go away.

Capitalism works on a voluntary exchange. All competing systems first take from someone, to then give to someone else.

You mean we should ignore “For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.”

quote:

one of Jesus' most celebrated miracles is providing free food to the masses

Who at that time had no other options.

Proverbs is full of advice to work and work hard - Proverbs 24:30-34 “I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”

So in short, God likes those who work and finds those who refuse to work off putting.

Was Jesus feeding lazy pieces of shite who refused to work and earn their way? Did they expect the world to just cater to them?

This thread is dumb

That is a Chinese proverb. It isn’t in the Bible.

The proverb is saying one is better than the other, not that one (giving fish) is necessarily bad.
So no; the proverb isn’t anti-Christian.

Think of the water purification and filtration capability in that timeframe, then tell me whether or not it was better to drink water or wine.

How do you feel about the government forcing other religious beliefs on people? (School prayer, religious education, beliefs dictating who can marry who, etc)

You need to go to church.

Because God is everywhere

but he wants you over here.

He's mad

and he wants your money.

The proverb doesn’t say to let people starve.

It says it is far more efficient and greater to teach a man to do something than to simply hand him something he didn’t earn.

It’s a principle that should be practiced and understood by all.

Jesus’s kingdom is not of this world. Nor is it bound by anyone one man made institution or organization. And those who truly love, follow, and believe in him know that this world came from ashes and to ashes it shall return.

I understand the ease of atheism and the draw of materialism and spiritual rebellion, but I urge you to approach the Lord with an open heart and an open mind. Earnestly try one day to simply pray with an open mind. If you reach out to the lord he will comfort you.
