Just got back yesterday and feel it was worth it. Was able to use it on rides such as Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, Rockin Roller Coaster, Space Tours, The Safari to name a handful. Definitely helps when you have little ones who probably wouldn’t handle long waits very well. We also used it to get into a few shows as well.

No, Nah, Nope and Nada

It is priced sometimes as high as $29 plus tax. You might get 3 quality rides out if it. which means you paid about $9 per person to skip a line. We have 8 in our group which means we spent $72 to skip the line on Peter Pan, then $72 on Space Mtn, and another $72 on 7 dwarfs

The rest of the line skips might save you 5/10 minutes each

Not worth it in my opinion

Just stay on grounds, use the early morning or late night extra hours that come with your room, and do the long wait rides during those times.

Profit

Depends on the park and how many rides you want to do. We had it for Disney but not Epcot and animal kingdom. You can only schedule one at a time if I remember right.

It was to me. Anything that gets me out of long arse lines is worth it. I hate waiting in line and always pay to get out of it. I paid for both genie+ and the individual lightning lanes. Was a small addition to the absurd amount of money we spent going there.

frick Disney. But you know, wife and two kids. So you go.

Answer in short is hell yes

Time is money and the last place I want to spend my time is waiting in line

Today is still the week of Thanksgiving. That experience should not be viewed as typical. Crowds between today and the week of Christmas will be significantly lower.

Problem with Genie+ is you have to really know how to use it to get money's worth. I screwed up completely first two time using and only got it right the last day. Probably wasted $100-200.

Also, it's nearly useless in Animal Kingdom (just no big rides), and in MGM will only get you on 1-2 rides just because of few rides overall in that park. It's good for Magic Kingdom if you know how to time it.

You can't judge the value or "deal" of genie+ against Fastpass because fastpass doesnt exist anymore. You can only judge it against not having it at all.

Thats not necessarily true. It all depends on when you schedule them and when you use them.

For example, let's say you are staying at an on site resort, you can book your first genie + at 7 am then another one two hours after the park opens and then another one two hours after that, etc etc etc

You don't necessarily have to make your first genie + reservations for the first part of the day or even the first park you plan to be at.

For example, let's say you plan to start your day at Animal Kingdom, are staying on-site and will be at the park when it opens and plan to head to Magic Kingdom later in the day. You can make your first genie + reservation at 7 am, then you can make another one two hours after Magic Kingdom opens at 10 am, another one at 12 pm and another one at 2pm.

So, you could start your day in Animal Kingdom with the shortest waits of the day right when it opens then walk into Magic Kingdom around lunch time with four Genie+ reservations waiting for you.

It’s bullshite but necessary when it’s crowded.

The fast pass system was infinitely better and free.

Yes.

You have to stay diligent to make sure you are getting time scheduled, but on our recent trip we were able to ride every ride at least once without having to wait in line. That was a complete change from our last trip 4 years ago. Waiting in line for 20, 30, 40 minutes if you have little kids sucks.

If you don't have little kids then...why in the hell are you at Disney World? (Fire away )

Evening hours are only for deluxe resort guests so if you are already staying in a deluxe resort that can be a good alternative but if not it will be substantially more expensive to go from a moderate or value resort to a deluxe than it will be to add G+ and Individual Lightning Lanes.

Mornings can be hit or miss but that extra 30 minutes is usually only one or MAYBE two rides so if you chose the right park and chose the right attractions (Thunder Mnt and Splash Mnt or Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, etc).

Yes, if you don't like lines. My wife is a fanatic about Disney so she researched the shite about the Genie+ stuff. She was up every morning, booking our first rides. We essentially, didn't have to wait for anything. We'd book the hard to get rides early. At rope drop, go ride anything else that had the potential to have lines, go ride our genie+ ride, book another one. We did this throughout all the parks. Worked pretty good, but we did have a couple times where the app was overloaded and went down.

And yes, this is just another way for Disney to nickel and dime you. It did seem quicker than fast pass, as on a packed day, fastpass changed your wait from 1:30 to 45 minutes on some rides, where Genie+ was basically a reservation to ride.

A tip, if you have someone that is highly organized (like my wife), when you book your genie +, have a game plan and map out where you are going. The first couple days we walked our asses off (about 11 - 12 miles/day). Once we got in the groove of things, we scheduled our genie+ around what areas of the parks we were in.

Even that statement is incorrect but it still doesn't change the reality that you cannot judge the value of Genie + today on what Fastpass offered 3 years ago anymore than you can judge the value of a car today on what the cost was 3 years ago.

I mean you can but it isn't logical. The only way to judge it's value is to what is offered now.

You can go without it altogether. You can only use Individual Lightning Lanes. You can chose to stay on site and use early mornings (30 minutes). You can stay at a deluxe resort and get some later evenings. You can book a VIP tour. You can chose to buy hard ticketed evening extra hour events. Or, you can choose to piece it together and pick different options.

What you can't do is use FP+ because it's a ghost and you definitely shouldn't make a decision to buy genie + today because of what FP+ offered last decade you dumbfrick.

Instead of paying, girlfriend and I got a DAS pass. Basically, go up to guest relations and say you have IBS or some shite and it is the same thing as Genie+ but it’s free and you can use it anytime you go. Saves time and money, and you don’t have to show any proof of your illness or whatever
