If I could catch a single Jennifer Anniston BJ I would argue day and night for the subsidies but since that hasn't happened. I think we are in fact blowing ourselves.
Let's put this in perspective. We are giving money from our taxpayers to people who then go on to brag that they made $150 million in their first weekend.
So, absent my Jenny BJ, this shite is a bad idea.

The majority of employees hired by the film industry come from out of state. I was one of the few in state employees and I want the film industry out of Louisiana. It would be different if it created permanent jobs, but it doesn't.

Saw the head of the Louisiana film trade group, whatever it's called, urging Jindal to veto the bill and threatening to sue if he doesn't. He sounded like a petulant child. I'm ready to shut the whole damn thing down. Carry their arse back to Hollywood or whatever other state is stupid enough to give them welfare.

Of course it is. There are a lot of jobs that are tied to this incentive the state gives to production companies. From a purely selfish point of view, I sell a lot of stuff to the movie industry and they never bitch about pricing and pay their bills on time. Great customers.

There's TV shows in New Orleans that cost 3 to 6 times more to produce because they inflate the costs and the state pays them 30% to 35% of expenses. It's a huge scam and the people are so star struck they refuse to accept reality.

2.6% of the budget isn't much. How about Louisiana quit being the most socialist state in the entire country and firing worthless state employees? You know, the ones who have healthcare and ridiculous retirement benefits. That is always why we have a budget crisis.
