Is the dress code for a Gala automatically a tuxedo?

Friends are inviting us to a St Jude Gala here in Atlanta this Saturday night (link to the event). We only found out a couple days ago so I haven't had much time to prepare for what to wear.
There is no sign of a dress code on the page but the term "gala" makes me automatically think tux. Is that the case that every gala should be "black tie"? Is a normal suit OK or should I be scrambling to rent a tux?
It will be held on the field at Mercedes Benz stadium (insert jokes here).

No, it’s a gown if you’re a woman.
You’ll out yourself as a coonass if you wear your PFG and boots with your starched jeans.

Even the dressiest of dressy events in the south there is going to be at least one baw with a sport coat, jeans and cowboy boots.

You’re probably fine in a dark suit.

Just wear a suit, anymore these days there will be at least a half dozen dudes that won’t wear a tie. Went to one for the wife’s work a few weeks ago several guys wore separates with polos and sport coats.

It doesn’t matter what you wear as long as you bring your checkbook
In all seriousness, that is a fantastic foundation to support

bullshite. Decorum requires a tux. Go rent a fricking tux and try to separate yourself from the troglodytes and socially inept who get invited to events for which they are totally unsuited.
Why does everyone always want to aspire to the lowest standards of the day? No one ever wants to step up . It’s always stepping down.

You can wear whatever you want. No one will notice. They’ll be looking at the OT ballers dropping big donations.

Yeahhhh, renting an I’ll fitting cheap tux really going to make a statement.
Every man should own a tux. Buy it before you turn 40 and stay fit enough to wear it until your 60.
If you don’t have one just wear a nice suit. Don’t rent a tux. Usually the table kind of dresses similar, so have the wife check with the group.

It looks to be black tie. Wear a tux. If you don’t own one, buy one. And tie your own bow tie.

Plenty people with money that don’t give a shite about dress codes.
