It’s been the advocate for several years already.

The Advocate bought NOLA.com. From my understanding is they are in the process of merging.

Nola.com will change its format July 1. You’ll have to logon with Facebook. No more anonymity. Fascist big business owner squashing free speech. All these people are conspiring to make the USA an oligarchy. They need to be jailed. They’re unamerican. Even though free speech isn’t protected in the private sector, these mega sites are a new phenomenon that need to adhere to the constitution. The people need to pay attention. You’re being silenced for a reason. A bad reason

I feel sorry for those guys in the IT department at the Advocate right about now. They are in the middle of migrating all the subscriber's info as well as advertisers from the TP data base. I am sure that is not all that is on their plate. This is a huge pain in the arse that will go on for weeks.

Yup. Got his cute little talking points.

Of course, the FB logins weeds out some of the trash comments.

That should dramatically improve the commenting on news stories.

If I want to look at anonymous hate foolishness, well, we got this website =)

All I know is that if you’d have told me 25 years ago the Advocate would someday own the Times-Picayune, I’d call you a damned fool.

The Advocate's shitty layout/commenting section that takes an hour to pull up will pretty much eliminate almost all comments, good or bad. Although they are making nola.com the main site, it's just the Advocate's layout now (which has sucked for a long time) on nola.com. Everyone always talks about how much it sucks, yet that's the format they decided to go with anyway for this big merge. Puzzling move.

Slowly but surely BR will own NOLA in every imaginable way.

BR was already a better place to live.
BR already had the better football team.
BR won the Topgolf wars.

and now BR is also taking the crown of murder and violent crime.
BR has easily won for worst traffic since at least the mid 90's.

The NOLA downfall is real. It's slowly becoming LA's second city.

I use the Brave browser now and I still keep the ad blocker it comes with and the Advocate's software can't detect it yet.
