Probably not, but it doesn’t help

I think it’s certainly fricking up family relationships. Younger parents are spending too much time on their phones and not enough time actually raising their children. This doesn’t necessarily spell the end of mankind, but it’s creating a generation of narcissistic assholes. Even worse than the Boomers were IMO

Yes humans are social creatures who need standing in a community to matter. Social media (among other things) has forever changed the scope and scale of the community and humans are much worse off for it.

It's a place for the minority to have a voice. Turn it off.

If you dig a little deeper you realize it is actually the iPhone/mobile apps that are the root of the problem.

No iPhone, no social media (in the format that we know and hate in 2020).

It sounds so beta, but deleting Facebook was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

It's actually created a whole new job sector.

We have allowed ourselves to be ruined by social media. It has facilitated ego explosions on FB and sleazy behavior on Snapchat and dating apps but the IPhone is the key enabler.

Social media is more stick than carrot. It also gives a voice to all voices/minds, both the good and the bad.

It actually is a good example of something that could have been the best thing for humankind and brought togetherness, but we all know what the devil says about “the best laid plans”... but the fact that there wasn’t a real “plan” to roll out access to the most prominent platforms other than a “money grab” makes for a very slippery slope towards the downward spiral.

Unless the collective consciousness changes globally and thoroughly, there’ll be nothing but “worse and worst” and not even sniffing “better to best”

frick. I'm already firmly stuck between two generations of narcissistic assholes.

We don't need a third.

Oh well. Whatever. Nevermind.

In some ways yes, some ways no

If anything it's a pretty scary look into the looking glass when you realize how stupid a lot of people are

It’s the technology that will ruin freedom. The artificial intelligence will allow for fake video proof of crimes so that the state can prosecute anyone they wish innocent or not. I truly believe it will have to be imploded and turned off forever by a brave leader.

It's not as if the people you went to high school with magically got any smarter (or dumber, depending on your position on the scale o' brains) after you graduated. We didn't need Facebook to know who the stupids were.
