There was once a song with the line "I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul".

Some women think they can fix everything. Immediately.

I found that they were usually the lost and insecure ones.

Take up cigars, they repel both women and children.

I love being alone. I can go days without talking to anyone and be perfectly fine.

Not unreasonable at all - a lot of married guys have the exact same conversation with their wives (me included).

I explained to my wife that there are times where I just want to be alone - usually fishing and camping for me. The ability to have that alone time greatly improves our time that we're together . Explain it like that to your girl and she'll be more likely to understand and respect the much needed alone time.

Reasonable...normal to want some time alone.

Got any hobbies that she doesn't like? Fishing, hunting, working on cars, video games, carpentry....something that you like but doesn't appeal to her. Give you some time to yourself without getting the GF mad and thinking you just don't want to spend time with her

This essentially ended my last relationship. I explained many times that after work sometimes I just put te windows down and blast music, she couldn't understand that and we would fight after work everyday. One night after work I was watching tv and she just showed up after I said I was laying down and didn't want to go out. I know it sounds selfish of me but I needed that space and really started to resent her for taking it away from me. Led to non stop fighting and eventually a break up.

It's crazy that some people don't get it. My wife has said it's very noticeable when I haven't had my outdoors time- took her a while at first to see the pattern despite my explaining it but it is great now. I suppose some people will never accept it.

I started golfing more just to get the space, and she would call and text during the round. It was astounding to me. I wasn't being sneaky, I wasn't texting other girls. I just needed space.

That's a major problem. Assuming you actually were making appropriate time for her and the relationship I see that as a sign of being very selfish and a complete disregard for your happiness. There are plenty of ladies that aren't like that

This is why the man cave and pro sports were invented. To give men an escape. Everyone feels this way at times. It's if you never want companionship there is a problem.

It can be confusing though. Because what if the person that typed it meant for it to be read as "a long term relationship", but typed LTR to be quicker? Then you came along and read it incorrectly.

Broke up with my last girlfriend because of this. I just couldn't help but feel the need to do things I wanted to do whenever I finally got home because I spend all day at work, school, and the gym. She couldn't get it through her thick skull, so I made it easy for her and dumped her.

Oh lawd, I have fricked so many flight attendants over the years that I could just never see marrying one.

Not that yours is one of those kind. Anyway, most flight attendants now are old with asses wider than the aisle and wearing depends and support hose.

t's ok if they're overbearing naturally, but if you talk to them about it and they still don't understand then it's a massive problem.

Ended my last one because of this. Lots of folks thought she was the one for me. Until golf season hit and my phone was ringing/buzzing every 5 mintues due to her insecurity. It's a golf course full of sweaty 50 year old men drinking beer and listening to the Eagles, not a strip club.

It blows my mind that some women refuse to believe in downtime for their men.

Breaking her heart is the only way to break the cycle. A man needs his time to be a man.

I'm a woman and I need alone time. I love it. It renews me and I can de-stress. I think it's healthy to want and have alone time. You're secure in yourself.

When I was younger, I hated being by myself. It wasn't that I had to have someone to talk to so much as just someone in the house and some noise of some sort. Silence bothers me probably because I grew up in a house with 6 kids and there was always some sort of noise or action going on even if I was in my room by myself. I almost always have the TV on at least for some noise, but I'm happy happy to be alone. The funny thing is I can block out the noise, but I can't block out too much silence. I start noticing the AC going off and on.

Anything is reasonable if you're both in agreeance. If she's not down with it you're gonna have problems.
