Holy Shite. Holistic Admissions Policy

This is more of LSU being terrible at controlling the message. All they had to do was announce that they were now requiring an essay/personal statement (which most places require), examples of leadership in high school, AND their GPA & standardized test scores.

No one would have said a thing.

Also, baws are getting bent out of shape over FKA wanting more diversity, but we all know that added diversity is like 1% of the reason they moved to this approach.

Can anyone explain why diversity matters more than academic achievement?

Money is a terrible reason to lower the standards of a university.

I agree. I’m just pointing out why the comprehensive application was created.

For the record. If you hit the baseline ACT/SAT and GPA...you’re in. And LSU has always had a probationary admissions policy for those that didn’t meet the above.

But then they couldn’t get those virtue signals in

You really wanna ruin trade schools in this state by putting them under fricking Alexander's control?

Not sure why folks are downvoting you, it drags ALL degree programs down the shitter.

This is compounded in an era of our time where there are too many degree holders out there to begin with.

"holistic" admissions

translation: we have to find a way to admit kids that don't meet "black letter" admission requirements to achieve "diversity"

also, couldn't they do a year or so at another school, then apply to LSU as a transfer student? A lot of schools end up letting people in as transfers who might have been marginal admits as freshmen.

Yes. They've had a program with BRCC for a while, but it needs expanding.

I also know when the higher-ed budgets were tanking, there was some serious consideration for dropping most, but not all, 4 year programs at LSUA and LSUS and running 2 year feeder programs into LSU A&M...similar to Penn State.

It's about money. I doubt FKA would give even one frick if every additional admit under this policy is white.

Not a bad idea although LSUS could probably justify a few 4 year degree programs.

When is he being shown the door? Are we waiting for JBE to be out of the picture?

I don't know and I don't care who gets into LSU or any other state school in SEC states.
