It depends. If your feet are crusted in dirt, and it looks like the only thing you ever wear, it’s kind of trashy.

Sliders/socks combo is laughable. And, if you will have to book it, sliders/flip flops will not help.

What kinda dumbass statement is that? Should I wear boots while hanging out by my pool? Or, when I go to the beach?
ETA: there are a few occasions that I will wear flip flops in public. At a beach, if I have to stop somewhere and I'm going to or coming from the club pool, or if I have to run to the neighborhood grocery store and I've been hanging out by the pool at home.

Most everybody else in between = YES
Old farts over 65 = NO
Seriously, in the past you had old people wearing black lace up street shoes with white socks up to their knees and shorts with the belt line around their moobs. Made a day at the beach MUCH less visually appealing. Shorts have dropped, no socks, and flip flops were actually an improvement.

The answer is yes. However, when it's insanely hot, I will wear them as much as possible because shoes and socks make me about 20% hotter. I draw the line at restaurants, airports, any kind of professional setting like an office or a doctor's office.

Pool and beach and points nearby are just about only places I'll wear them. After seeing how dirty some flip flop people's soles are I've been reluctant. That and I don't like driving in them at all.

A common response seems to be not wanting to look at other men's feet. Are a lot of you going around checking out other men's feet? That seems pretty weird in itself.

I go barefoot most places. I know which stores I can go into without shoes.
