Technically it will take weeks to form and get to the shores of the SE Gulf of Mexico.

So, if we extrapolate that until late September it will take a lot for one to hit us directly this year.

Are you talking winds in Louisiana or winds in general because I can assure you Ike was not a cat 1. Galveston and Bolivar were smashed. Bridge City was under water.

Became a TS on Oct 2nd off the West coast of the Yucatan and hit Florida 2 days later as a Cat 3. Was a Cat4 but downgraded before landfall.

Water is still hot. Late September and the first half of October are known to have shite spin up in the Western Caribbean and get launched north.

Dont sleep on that scenario.

A long runner that forms off the coast of Africa and marches to the Gulf? That Id actually be surprised by. Could easily not see a single storm form east of the islands.
