Once I asked to see the radar, the cop asked if I want to go to jail.

I was going 9x on the interstate.

In some states, a ticket is considered an arrest and release. Therefore, the cops can take you to jail for any ticket if they choose.

In Nevada, I got pulled over for my tail light being out. The cops were convinced I was drunk because I refused their stupid field sobriety tests and requested a breath or blood test. Needless to say, they weren't happy when I blew a 0.00. I was taken to jail for a tail light and a crack in the windshield. I lived on Lake Tahoe so they sent a cop all the way from Reno to get me and take me to the jail.

Worst part was that they impounded my car and I had to pay $300 to get it back. Also, missed work the next day and had to get a taxi from Reno back home. Cost another $150.

Yes. Technically you can be arrested for going 1mph over.

Gonna need you to cite this lie.

Connecticut. Ticket.

Not arrested for 1 mph over.
Ct. Over 80 is reckless.
Up to 55, but over ehatever is posted is a citation but not speeding.

I saw signs on ct highway re 1 mph over is a ticket.

Long ago.

Well there was snow in the ground, I was in my dress shoes and I've had knee surgery on both knees. I'm not letting some over zealous cop determine whether he thinks I'm fit to drive or not. There are tests for BAC.

I mean the fricker sent me to jail over a tail light and crack in the windshield. You really think he's going to be honest when administering a field sobriety test? He would have just said I failed and give me wreckless driving. Never submit to field sobriety tests. They are BS and it is your right to have a breath or blood test.

anyone going 100 those needs to be arrested and lose his/her license for 6 months or more.

Glad you wasn’t the officer that stopped me going 101 in a 70. Officer threatened to arrest me and I got a RO ticket but all I ended up with was a non moving violation and $180 fine.

Always hire a lawyer their fee is minimal to the fine you would pay, a suspended license, community service, and possible jail time. Best $$$$ I ever spent.

FYI my truck vibrates so bad at 85 that there is no way I could ever get to 100 not to mention it’s a stock V8 and at stock it shuts off at 94.

You can in Alabama too, pretty sure most places 25 and over is auto jail.

I got an 84 in a 65. One more over and the cop could have taken me to jail.

It's my only speeding ticket. Not worth it imo.

Back when I was a kid AR used to routinely arrest out of state drivers for all traffic violations. Then they signed the reciprocal agreements with surrounding states and stopped routinely arresting. They, like most states, are still more likely to arrest out-of-staters for speeding than their own residents.

All in all, just not worth the improved gas mileage to drive over about 105

Obviously no one has heard of the saying:

Drive slow see our town...Drive fast see our jail.

Yeah, the cops didn’t have to do all that though.

After a certain speed overage, it can be reckless driving. That’s an arrestable offense.

Is your lawyer also your dad? Every lawyer I know charges like $300 per hour. I’ll just pay the ticket. Better yet, I won’t drive drunk or like an a-hole.

You can be arrested for any charge. It’s at the officers discretion to release you with a citation

In modern America, if an officer stops you, you had better do everything right or you could go to jail. Let have all the power.

I thought traffic violations were lettered differently in terms of what you can be arrested for.
