A DUI in Louisiana is basically a parking ticket

We can stop with the whole “asking for a friend”

Get ready to receive a call from the law offices of Gordon Mckernan.

The fact that DUI/DWI isn't an automatic felony is tragic. You pretty much have to he a habitual drunk to see any consequences.

Agreed, but highly unlikely in the sticks to get a DUI.

Nope and nope.

You’ll sign up for pre-trial intervention and $10k later after a year of humbling things to deal with you’re done.

It’s very effective for someone that feels remorse for what they did in the first place. If you didn’t, even prison time wouldn’t stop you from doing it again.

Sounds like someone is about to become friends with ignition interlock guys and enjoy pound-me-in-the-arse prison time.

Buddy of mine got a DUI and the ignition interlock guy actually violated him. Said it was company policy.

Louisiana DUI

Subject A - Gets DUI, hires a lawyer for $3,500.00.
Lawyer negotiates with DA to sentence subject under article 894

Subject A - (*)Pays court cost/fine, serves a probation period, driving courses and community service

DUI is dismissed once all conditions are met and he doesn't F up again (Total costs $5,000.00)

Subject B - Gets DUI, doesn't hire a lawyer but instead tells judge he's guilty and would like to be sentenced under Article 894.

(*) All of the same conditions are met, DUI is dismissed (total costs $1,500.00)

DUI doesn’t get the slap on the wrist it used to, better get a lawyer that specializes in DUI. He should’ve just robbed a store and shot someone if he didn’t want to go to jail.

In that order? Impressive!

Dont ever blow or submit to field sobriety tests. Let them take you to jail with as little evidence as possible and tell Hillar Moore to take that shite to trial.

Well first off take ab uber or get a ride but if you find yourself in a situation dont hand over evidence like that

Depends heavily on the jurisdiction. Some just put DWIs on a conveyor belt and nothing you do really matters. Some will reduce based on significant mitigation, significant litigation, or both. Half the battle is knowing your battlefield.

And WHO you know. Most important is who you know, and how much $$$ you can throw at an attorney with excellent connections.

Pick rainy weekends and you’ll spend most of your time at the shop off Perkins road. I met hot woman twice doing community service. Slayed both of them. There are silver linings.

Also jurisdiction specific. There are exceptions, but that tends to be more important in smaller jurisdictions and less important in larger jurisdictions.
