EMP is what will be used in a major war

Funny no one said this, just leave any car or truck parked in a Feriday cage and underground; the electronics should be fine.

I am a little suspicious on the EMP effects on modern electronics, the only knowledge we know about an EMP comes from nuclear testing from the 1950s when electronics were much simpler and cruder devices.

The biggest impact an EMP would have is power. There is just too much exposed bare wires in the electrical grid to cause issues, but the easiest fix for this after the attack is replacing the fuses if the system is grounded properly.

He claimed these could get started somehow by like pushing them (even if the electronics are all fried).

He also made the argument that the use of gasoline on The Walking Dead was unrealistic as gas doesn't last that long. He claimed diesel fuel will last much longer.

Any old diesel with Manual Transmission will do. You can start them by putting it in gear and rolling it fast enough then pop the clutch which turns the crankshaft

be great for getting you into the middle of the huge logjam of stalled vehicles, where your one tank of gas will run out. I'd rather have a bicycle, provided your ruthless and well armed enough to keep someone from taking It away from you.

Motorcycle or ATV also works good. Good on gas and you can siphon gas from stalled cars. Even better would be a diesel powered one like a John Deere Gator. Like you said though better be well equipped.

Yes and no.

You can tune an old carb to run on just about anything flammable. Even very old fuel.
