OP says the company can't fill the position. That's on them.

Apparently it’s easier to whine about it than change to attract a candidate.

If you ate only sale items and beans and rice, that's $50/week.

I used numbers as low as humanly possible to show that it's still almost impossible to live on $15/hour.

Could you have walked out of HS and into a job where you could afford to live on your own and take care of yourself? I don't think I could have in the 90s.

This. We're not looking for 40 yr olds. 18, out of high school. Looking to gain experience, move up quickly and get in at a company with offices worldwide.

I have no say so in compensation btw. I'd be happy to pay $20-$25 an hr, but it's not up to me. That's the Global Compensation team. They do fill these jobs regularly though. Like I said, $15 is the absolute floor. Doesn't mean everyone in this position is coming in at that. You can negotiate with HR.

I was just bringing it up to a neighbor's kid who is looking for a job and has never really worked. He was appalled at the pay. This would be his first job ever btw.

I do agree with a lot of you though. Pay does need to increase across the board due to old Joe and his inflation.

$15 an hour isn't great, but it's still double min wage
That's the scary part.

We have a whole thread debating whether $15 an hour is a livable wage, and that's double the minimum wage in this country...

If I make $15/hour moving shite in a warehouse, why on earth do you think I would give a shite that there are offices worldwide?

started with my company making $16.00 20 years ago. I think $15.00 is fair for the kinda work you’re talking about but it depends on who you’re asking about the position.

What year?

He must think the cost of living has only gone up $1 in 20 years for the OP's offer to be "fair."

You’re delusional. Chicken isn’t cheap. I just came of meal prep for a show and my food cost was 200/week and I’m talking meat and rice

Yes I think I could and I actually did. I worked several jobs at a time to do it.

Thinking one person needs to eat $800/month of rice, beans, and chicken is just as absurd, tbf

Roughly 2% make fed min wage or below. Half of those are under 25.

That’s not my point, but that is absolutely how much my meal prep cost monthly. 200/month is nothing at a grocery store

Federal benefits increased dramatically since the 70's, poor people get food stamps and other perks as well.

That and importing million of "undocumented workers" puts downward pressure on wages.

I made minimum wage for 6 months in HS. $4.25/hr but I got a raise. Any adult still making minimum wage should be happy they can tie their shoes themselves.
