This. Have a roomate, you don't have to live in the swankiest apartments in trendy neighborhoods, most of us worked our way up. Live in an older apartment in the burbs or have roomates. Also sorry not sorry, not enough parents told these kids "No" growing up.

Gen Z is actually the first generation to have lower reading and math levels than the previous one.

IQ's are starting to drop in many developed countries. Not sure if this is a real phenomenon or just the massive influx of immigrants.

If the company can pay $45,000 then why even play around and offer $30,000? This is the thing that always has me perplexed. Why was McDonald's paying bare minimum wage for so many years now all of a sudden they're paying $15 an hour plus? Things that make you go hmmmmmm

It’s not $1500 for a 1 bedroom, if you have a bigger place then you should be earning a lot or have a roomate. Plenty of people have roommates.

Everyone wants a flashy car and to live by themselves now and then complain about their finances. Do like everyone else did up until 2015 and drive a beater and live with roommates or get married. Sorry not sorry.

You're clueless. $1500 a month is the low end for a 1 bedroom in any large city if you need to live close in to the cbd. Alternative is spending hundreds a month on gas in addition to the car payment.

Instant gratification is more of an issue today. That is one legit difference. I think people see less value in putting in time, it might pay more to jump from job to job for some. I've been guilty of this before myself.

There is a certain age range of people that still think you have to be loyal to a company. Companies are not loyal to you. People need to learn how to look out for themselves and tell a company when to frick off.

It’s the boomers faults. They raised their families under false pretenses.

When the credit card swiping began, children learned that they should live a certain lifestyle.

I know everyone wants what’s best for their kids, but you have to teach them reality.

Now these kids think they deserve the 50k lifestyle on a 30k budget.

This is all such BS. I was in my early 20's in Nola in the late augts. I made $12 an hr. No benefits. 1 week unpaid vacay. I had a roommate. My car was 10 yrs old. I didn't lease a 3 series so I could give the illusion of being "rich". I didn't buy $500 handbags or $500 designer shoes. My cellphone was a budget model. My TV wasn't a 55" flat screen. I brownbagged it to work everyday. I saved everything I could and gained experience and moved up.

I still live frugally. My husband and I live in a 1600 sq ft 50's ranch. We're DINKS. We do take nice vacations, but we find deals. We'll both retire by 60 with plenty in retirement.

The younger generations expect to have everything nice like they had growing up. They're 30thousanaires.

My parents always told me about buying their first house when they got married. Other than their bedroom set(a wedding present) they had no furniture. They'd save up and when they finally had enough, they'd buy a piece of furniture, eventually furnishing the whole house.

Do you honestly think Gen Z or millennials are doing this? OP said the guy they had was spending money or his car, daily lunches, and a folding cell phone? They expect everything nice like they had growing up .. What their parents worked for

$15 an hour isn't great, but it's still double min wage for an entry level warehouse job. The benefits dont sound bad either.

Hire J-1 or Mexicans.

They will outwork an American Zoomer, give you far better value.

Or better yet, automate.

I think large corporations kind of changed that attitude. I worked for smaller companies, local places and we were all trying to build something together. Working for a large corporation, its all systemized, and theres no need to feel loyalty. You leave, someone takes your place.

You old people seriously need to stop comparing how you grew up to how we grew up. Back in the day of family of four can make it on a man's salary alone. Not so much today. This is where the whole okay Boomer thing came from because your generation is so out of touch with reality today.

Should mention this warehouse is in the burbs. Not like they need to live in downtown Houston. Oak Hollow area

McDonald's is just a random example I pulled out of thin air, what I'm saying applies across the board. Boomers way of thinking, no one will take this $15 an hour job because they are lazy and worthless. In reality, no one will take that $15 an hour job because they can't make a living on it today.
