They spoke forever at a graveside ritual/ceremony at my grandpa's funeral while it was about 35 degrees.
Later, when a Mason I knew died, I said no way I'm going to graveside and listening to that again, but I went to the funeral. Damn if they didn't show up and do the ceremony there.
Now if I see in the obit that the deceased was a Mason, I will not attend anything other than visitation.

It's a fraternity that does a little more than bugger each other and obsess about what they're wearing.

With rare exception, Masonic functions in Louisiana aren’t allowed to have alcohol.
That rule seems to be ignored at board meetings.

I do know that in the early 80’s every member of the Louisiana State Police board that approved promotions was a mason. If you were going up against a mason it was a waste of your time to drive to BR to hear the results of the committee. Apparently they are quite loyal to fellow masons.

It’s about as dumb as BRAAS

Every person I talk to who claim to be a “mason” all say the same bullshitee line. “If you want to know what a mason is, you need to be one”.
I am one. After reading a few entries I've determined there is an abundance of ignorance on this subject.
Almost as ignorant as dandylyin talking about "level" 33 hating Jesus.
Sadly, I would have to write a book to educate you on exactly what Masonry is. Simply put though, it is a fraternal organization.
Our goal is to help our fellow man.
No, we do not hate Catholics. We have some Catholics in our membership. The same for Jews but muslims would not want to be a part of this organization.
Question: Do you guys have an equally poor opinion of the Shriners? Besides their dune buggies you might connect them to Shriner's hospital.
ALL Shriners are Masons.

I did the entered apprentice ceremony.
It’s pretty lame.
Our lodge is pretty much all old guys who don’t really do shite except get together every few weeks to eat a bad spaghetti dinner.
Some lodges are active, so your mileage may vary. It’s kind of like choosing a church.

Since the church has forbade membership in the Freemasons, I'd say you have some former Catholics among your membership.

Older guys are the core of most such organizations because they are retired and because we haven't gotten past phones still hanging on walls.
You should see the members of out American Legion post ..... uh, wait, it's the same guys.

Tex, you seem to be forgetting that Church doctrine has evolved...

If your line of thinking were correct there would have been a bunch of former priests before all the little boys were molested.

You aren't excommunicated now, but you are still considered to be a in state of Mortal sin, and forbidden from receiving communion. You are, therefore, not a Catholic in good standing.
