I’m in Florida right now renting from a Louisiana owned house. We just when north after going through mobile and drove through the middle of nowhere Alabama, then just went down into Florida with no issues.

I mean Coach O was jogging down the damn main stretch in Destin last weekend...the beaches were full of people from Louisiana.

Cool story bro.
Anyone with a brain knows that La residents could go to Florida. Go ahead and call any of the major gulf coast rental agencies, Sandestin Resort, or Seaside/Watercolor and get back with us on how that phone call goes.

Most counties are requiring vacation property owners to provide the county with a report of every renter, including the renter's zip code. So, the ones who are actively renting to people from Louisiana are likely committing fraud by lying in those reports.
Just FYI, so maybe stop running your mouth so much.

You should tell that to the AirBNB owner who cancelled my reservations at Portofino.
Like anything else in life, obviously not everyone are following the rules 100%. I'm sure there are plenty of renters who aren't turning away LA residents, and plenty who are. People like the OP just need to be aware that there is a chance they could get cancelled, or have an issue when they go to check in, it's not 100% open and clear.

That's not a bad idea, but I bet Sandestin wouldn't even allow for that. I don't understand why the Hilton there won't allow La residents. I thought hotels were free to rent to us.
booked a condo in sandestin for june 30 to july 5 (baytowne wharf) back in march with 3 other couples. our PROPERTY MANAGEMENT company for our rental kept telling me we weren't going to be allowed in, wouldn't give me any relief on pushing our cancellation date back to mid june. they wouldn't budge. meanwhile, all other couples were being told by their PROPERY OWNERS, no problem, come, enjoy etc etc...
so, we booked a 2nd one, who had a 225 area-code. called him, gave him the run down.......we're booked with him and cancelled the previous one.
i'm sure there is STILL something that can go wrong between now and then, thats just my luck, but just giving my personal account to this situation.

Y’all be careful if you use Vacasa as a rental agency. They are assholes and shouldn’t be trusted

That phone call went like this. “Can you afford our rental?” “Yes.” “Awesome, see you on your dates, have an amazing time.”

So someone clarify what types of rentals Louisiana people are allowed to rent? Just hotels? Nothing?

Ah yes, the classic response on the OT about someone wanting to take their family to the gulf coast beaches.

Great. You found someone willing to use common sense and take their chances.
My post is still factual.
Now maybe some are getting word that the governor is about to change the policy in the coming weeks so they don't see a problem with going ahead and accepting a booking.

I booked a house for the week of July 4 and was told they are currently not accepting residents of Louisiana but that you can book and if they can not accommodate you they will refund the deposit. Last week they called to update me and said they expect June 3 to have a firm answer.

Hotels unless you find someone with a condo willing to rent without going through their rental agency.

Yeah you can find ways around it (by either having someone in your party without a LA address book it, or if the vendor is just ignoring the order, etc) but people saying it's BS are just wrong. It's not BS, and lots of people have and are still having their reservations cancelled.
