At LSU you'll generally go from sophomore to senior year with the same 40-140 people while taking the same class since there is only 1 section. You're all going through the struggle together and end up hanging out since everyone has similar schedules and commitments.

bingo, and when someone switches their major to business, we point, laugh and ostracize them from the group.

We laughed regardless of what they were switching to. I'd bet we lost 1/2 of the declared engineering majors freshmen year which is funny since they hadn't taken any actual engineering courses yet.

the nerds who end up becoming engineers usually have a hard time making friends regardless of what major they choose.

how can y'all say engineers are weird and anti-social when there are at least 9 or 10 in this very thread posting on the internet to real life people behind a monitor?

Everyone was really good friends in forestry, but I only graduated with 5 other people and we spent 6 weeks living together information the woods. All of our classes were outside too.

I lived with 3 landscape architecture guys, and they were good friends with 90% of the other students.

Too many people in engineering. I would call myself the antithesis of antisocial

On average, you might be right. Usually the most personable ones find the most success, early on anyways.

There's not much variance in Petroleum Engineering. I graduate in May. There's like 215 people in my class. It's probably 85-90% guys and 10-15% girls. Of the guys I'd say 90% white, 5% Middle Eastern, 5% Black (from Africa or U.S.). Not many chinese people. But majority of class are white frat guys. Probably around 50%.

I'd go with mechanical or chemical engineering and pre-med which seem like the most common weed out majors. Seemed like the friends I had in those were closer with their classmates in general. I guess they had to rely on one another when it's an actual struggle just to pass most classes they take.

We have to make friends because the professors are mostly foreign. I actually caught myself saying "etch" instead of "H" after fluids.

Can confirm, am ChE grad

When you're basically living in the ChE computer lab, you make friends with everyone else struggling in there.

Also, ChE is nearly 50/50 men-women now. :P
