As far as "larger" Louisiana cities, yes.

Every other day or so, somebody thinks he's starting an exciting topic for discussion by taking a crap on some Louisiana city or town. That generates discussion about other cities or towns that need to be crapped on, too.

About every week, some other person starts a topic on how north Louisiana "isn't part" of Louisiana.

Everyone of you who do this are consummate jerks. Everyone of you who have to cite other nominees in response to these topics are also jerks.

I wish I could tell what I really think about you.

It was great to grow up in Alexandria. My friends who stayed or went back have amazing places and lives. With a bunch of friends and a bunch of money Alexandria is very nice.

Can't remember if I posted in this one. Alexandria is, by far, the best place to live in La. And since La. is the best state in the US, it's the best place to live in the US. And since the US is the best...well, it's simply the best place.

I think you'd have to establish a list of "cities" in the state before the question can be answered. Over half the responses here are listing places that are undoubtedly worse, but that are not considered "cities".

Alexandria is a hard city to drive. Nothing is easy to get to from Hwy. 167. There's no place to get off of Hwy. 167, and go to the bathroom until you get to the Hwy. 165 exit, which is might be Tioga, or somewhere north of Alexandria. I got off across from Louisiana College and stopped at a feed store, where a nice man let me use his restroom. Only three or four exits off of I-49 between Opelousas and Alexandria that have a restroom too!

Just because you drove a route AROUND THE CITY doesn't make it a hard place to drive... also, you passed up a ton of places then.

For its population size and central location, Alexandria is unique in its complete lack of interest in nightlife, local/regional cuisine, and entertainment.

They are completely happy eating at Logan’s Roadhouse and following it up with a nightcap at the Yacht Club. Then, it’s to bed at 9:30.

The average Alexandrian enjoys romantic date nights at restaurants where you can wear camouflage and throw peanuts on the floor.

Personally, I couldn't care about nightlife... I'm way past that point in my life.

As for local/regional cuisine... you need to get out more. There are some nice places to eat in the area including "The Bentley Room," "Buckets," "Robbie Gs," "Embers, "Janohn's," "Tunks," "Diamond Grill," "Cajun Landing," and "Spirits"... just to name a few. Don't act like wherever you live doesn't have Logan's and Texas Roadhouse.... and if they have them and they are still open, it is for a reason, because your townsfolk frequent them as well.

As for the camo and peanuts... yea that is fun but it nowhere near comes close to describing the average date night for a person from Alexandria.

This is hilarious, but also kind of sad how true it is.

It's not true at all. The times I have been forced to eat at places like Logan's I see zero people actually from Alexandria. You have to understand the geography of the region. Look around the center of the state. Alexandria pulls from all sorts of outlying areas.

These people are probably from Winnfield, Jena, Oakdale, Colfax, Etc. etc.

Pretty much everyone shitting on Ellic has no idea what they are talking about. Would be like me shitting on one of the Florida Parish cities. Sure, i could join in, but it would not be informed.
