Recently got my info back from 23 and Me. Turns out that I found my mom's long lost sister that was put up for adoption 55 years ago, and I found my paternal grandfather's grandchild from his second family that he had while he was living two faced. I knew of the both occurrences, just never thought I'd find the people.

I clicked the relative section on 23 and me and my highest matched DNA relative was a woman that looked identical to my mom. Her birth year also matched the year my mom said it all occurred. I did get a hold of my half-aunt, turns out she had no idea she was adopted, due to it being a blackmarket baby transfer basically. From what she believes her adopted mother did it to get a meal ticket from a wealthy man she once had a fling with. Her adopted father had told her before that he just got a knock on the door one day and the woman was standing there holding a baby and said it was his from there past fling. So he stuck around and raised that daughter and the other 3 children of that woman's and lived his whole life thinking it was his kid. Also, turns out that my half-aunt lives in Malibu and is a celebrity, but I had no idea until I started googling, I rarely turn cable on.

Pretty wild 48 hours for my mom and her new found sister. Brings some serious closure to my family, my grandmother went to her grave mourning the decision to give up a child. She spoke about it often, even well into her Alzheimer's fight.

There's going to be a lot of explaining to do for a lot of women and a lot of men in the next 10 years with all this science coming out and all the lies getting exposed.

Congrats on having your DNA in a massive government database now.

Oh, and congrats on that other stuff too.

I couldn't give 2 shits about what info the govt has. They can come take me to jail or get what they want as long as they ready to be met with strong resistance. I been looking for a good reason.

I did it because I wanted to guarantee scientists had the necessary ingredients to clone me in the future and bring me back for One Last Mission.

And as far as the posts about loose living and trashy family. There isn't a single thing that could surprise me about my family. I am trash, we've been this way since the day my family came off the boat in the 1850s. Mafia, Prostitution, Murder, Embezzlement, and any other heinous crimes you can think of my family(on both sides) has been and still is a part of. From Boston to Chicago to NOLA. It is what it is, IDGAF.

I briefly used to follow the 23andme subreddit. About half the posts were “got my results; my mother/father isn’t really my mother/father.” A lot of them found out their parents used donor eggs/sperm, or family scandals with cheating. Anybody who thought they’d get away with pinning a child on the wrong father has to be super nervous now.

I had someone contact me, and discovered my great-grandfather was previously married and apparently abandoned his first family. My mom had no idea that she (grandmother) had other siblings, etc., and is positive my grandmother didn’t know, either. My grandma was born in 1906, so all of the people with firsthand knowledge are long gone. It’s more a “wow! Interesting!” scandal than a legit scandal.

This is the least of my concerns.

This is the real concern.

I had a similar experience
I did the dna thing bc I was adopted and turning 50 a few years ago. I was looking for genetic markers for heart disease , etc
My birth family found me.

I do not know why anyone gives a shite about all of that crap.

I don't want to meet people who may have some shared DNA that I've never met after 50 years. It adds zero to my current well being and I don't really like many people so why add more that I may dislike?

I have a legit reason to look into it as well. Was told my father died before I was born but over time I'm pretty sure that isn't true. But I don't care. My family is my family. I don't need more of them thanks anyway.

The government fears over this stuff are ridiculous. Cracks me up when people are legitimately concerned about it.

Turns out that one of my 4 first cousins had a different father than the other 3. A priest. Crazy shite I tell you. Did not go over well. Both parents are deceased, but the priest is still alive.

0% chance if cops show up to your door with a warrant you're doing anything about it. No need to act tough on a forum
