I think u fail to realize that there are more leeches who are voters than producers now. We can vote all we want but when those leeches keep voting for the government to force u by threat of jail, fine and bullet to give up more of your money, you are helpless.

What if you have a rental house that you charge slightly more than the mortgage but still take a loss on the property? How does that work?

If I recall correctly, you deduct the interest, property tax, maintenance, and depreciation from the rent to determine the profit.

Lefties - Tax the rich!

Biden - Best I can do is tax some single mom selling stuff on eBay to make rent.

Sounds like trashy shoplifters complaining about new security cameras at Walmart.

Honest payers recognize that better compliance reduces the pressure to raise rates.

Seems like Venmo, PayPal, etc would hate this new shite.

They absolutely do and lobbied against it. eBay also lobbied against it just like the collection of state sales tax.

I sold an iPad on Swappa. Just over $400 and some change. From what I can gather, Swappa provided my taxpayer status to PayPal.

This is the message I received from PayPal.

An individual selling at item who already paid taxes on this item is not a business and should have to pay tax again to the IRS.

Naive payers don't realize the gubment is coming after the middle class and not the wealthy.

frick the IRS. "Comply or else" is your motto, not mine.

they'll raise your rates without need. frick them.

Our tax system is needlessly complex and our federal government is incredibly bloated and most of it is unnecessary. They don't need more of our money.

But this is only for items you make a profit, right?

If I buy a new road bike for $3,000 and sell it to Jeaux Boudreaux for $1,800, why the frick should I have to pay taxes on an item I already paid taxes on?

I'm sitting on about $25k in cash from selling two motorcycles and a car. I'm afraid to go deposit it in the bank, but I am keeping a ledger and receipts to show where it came from in a safety deposit box.

There are multiple jurisdictions and types of taxation.

It has gotten out of control but that is the world today.

Better start throwing some tea in the bayou, baw!

Just use it as your day-to-day spending money and don't deposit it. Kind of laundering it to yourself

If this is personal, this falls under the hobby rules and is not taxable and loss in non-deductible.

You guys are melting over nothing.

The $600 threshold is overkill. With that said, you are responsible for reporting all worldwide income, even if not reported to the Feds.

Yeah, we don't really have a rule of law, as our laws are overwhelming and complex involving every facet of life, and lawmakers are immune from much of what they put on us..

Lawyers get elected to perpetuate their industry.
