quote:Well that sounds like a waste of time and ability to try to be "normal" when that is probably impossible to pinpoint exactly. Better late than never I guess.
i spent a while doing whatever i could to be normal and be a normal person. only recently, and i mean like january 2013, have i tried stimulating my brain in an truly intellectual sense.

but knowledge is a bullshite thing for cognitive ability. punishing a person for not being exposed to a random fact is illogical
i took this intelligence test based on verbal concepts and b/c i didn't know the definitions of words, it scored me like an 85 IQ
this is the "SAT Verbal" shite i hate

observe and repeat. the hard part is understanding why people do things, which is sometimes maddening in social behaviors
people are fricking emotional-irrational count most of the time

If you're smart enough and observant, you can predict and manipulate people relatively easily. I do it for shits and giggles all of the time IRL. My ex used to get firey mad about it....after I told her what I was doing (for a reason of course
)

quote:Well those SAT questions go beyond what most IQ tests evaluate in terms of vocabulary. Regardless that is only one part. Another part of it is just general acquired knowledge that all of us posting on the website have been exposed to (like who was George Washington). Now if there is reason to suspect that somebody hasn't been exposed to that (e.g., a refugee) then that would not be an appropriate measure.

Not reading through the thread, if it was some online chart go ahead and disregard it.

There was an OT IQ-off a while back where everyone took the same test. IIRC, Rome won

I mean there are tests in different languages, tests that are completely nonverbal, and programs that can identify performance based on the cultural and linguistic demands of certain subtests. In other words, the tools are available to make culturally sound decisions; it's up to the practioner to make decision in accordance with best-practices.

You got a 165 at 5 years old because your parents probably took you to get into private school. In the 80s and 90s all private school admissions offices told parents their kids tested at 150+ as a sales tactic and now you think you are a 165 IQ and STILL going out of your way because of it at 30+.

I gather that I must have been administered an IQ test in Kindergarten because that's when I was placed in the GT program in Cy-Fair ISD in west Houston. I vaguely remember taking a test, but no one told me it was an IQ test and I've never been advised of my IQ. It must be at least the minimum for the CFISD GT program, tough I have doubts about the efficacy of IQ testing, with myself as a prime example. I have a very high level of cultural knowlege and score extremely well on verbal tests (perfect SAT verbal) but I possess below average math skills. I personally associate intelligence with mathematical ability. For this reason, I theorize that had the test been properly administered, I wouldn't have qualified for GT, and accordingly my IQ can't be terribly higher than average,
