I wouldn't go so far as to call it warm (summer highs are usually 80 or so) but the populated side of WA isn't that cold. Not much snow either.

I traveled for business for nearly a decade and I disagree. I've been to plenty of places that I didn't care for in other states.
That's the problem with making a generalization about an entire state when the quality of your own life is very localized. I'd rather live in Lafayette, LA than Pine Bluff, AR or Jasper, AL. I'd rather live Ocean Springs, MS than Ferriday, LA.

Lafayette is probably the nicest somewhat major city in Louisiana, so let’s compare apples to apples. Sure Lafayette is nicer than Pine Bluff but what about compared to Fayetteville (which is started to get ranked on some of these lists as a top 10 place to live). Can you see any city in Louisiana making a top 10 list in something other than murder? Or hell, any good category. Lafayette is about the only city in Louisiana that’s sort-of-kind-of-close but not really on par with other ‘nice’ cities.

I still only broke out my big jacket once this year (and maybe 3-4 times last year). I just isn't that cold. We do get a good bit of snow in Salt Lake, but it's either 1) Still Warm enough for a light jacket or 2) Melts in less than 48 hours

Off of the top of my head I can think of a number of places that I've been that i'd live in BR, Nola or Lafayette over.
Are there nicer places? Sure. A lot of them actually. That's why I said that it's really more of a localized comparison. It's pointless to say Ohio is better place to live than Louisiana. Ever been to Youngstown or Cleveland. I'd stay here before I moved to one of those cities.

I'm not arguing that. But I'd live in Baton Rouge over Youngstown which means to me there are are worse places to live. I guess that's really subjective though.
