I work for a software company and we have a presence there. If it wasn't for the business my wife owns in Birmingham, I'd move out there tomorrow. Everything there was great. I can't think of a better place to be if you liked being outside.

Iowa may be first in all that shite, but it’s last in places to eat after 10pm.

I’ve lived in Iowa. I’d rather live in Louisiana and it’s not even close.

I can’t imagine why Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are bottom feeders.

Looks like the rankings go from most to least homogeneous populations. Socioeconomics never seem to be considered when calling out states that keep ranking last.

You can’t leave your house for 10 months out of the year. Not having to deal with assholes daily makes for a great existence.

When my kids are out of school in three years, I'm out of here. I hope property values haven't tanked by then. The people who are running this state are getting out of hand and will have the majority vote in everything in the near future. They will probably change the name of the state to New Africa. Good luck, I'm out.

I've never been, but I hear Des Moines is actually a really nice city. If you search for some pics on the interwebs, it certainly seems so.

I lived in Des Moines for almost 2 years and traveled the whole state...a lot. It’s pretty nice place to raise a family. The biggest negative are the winters there...just gray and brutal. The landscape also leaves a lot to desire. I will say that Iowa City is as fun of a college town as SEC towns. Really fun and friendly college football scene too.
