It's a ridiculous story, but in the Causeway cops defense:
Tbe victim bailed out on East Approach in front of Rouse's. That's about 90 seconds from the Causeway toll plaza. He was probably on the bridge by the time she crossed the parking lot and made it into the store. She had to get to a phone to call 911 and explain what happened, which probably took another minute or two.

On tbe other hand, there were Mandeville cops in Avondale. I don't know where they picked up the pursuit. Maybe they were on him right away, maybe they joined after his vehicle was identified.

The whole situation defies logic. This guy was on some great drugs and/or nutty as squirrel shite.

I wonder if she just told the cops to shoot around him instead of shooting at him

They literally had 30-45 minutes of this guy going straight on a road where he couldn't go anywhere else. He was stuck for that long on the causeway and the Huey P, and couldn't turn off.....yet they let him keep driving.

This is truly baffling to me how they let him off the bridge. instead they let him drive the streets where he could have killed any number of people with his truck/trailer combo.

And that led into a shootout where 200 rounds missed the guy, and only one ricochet hit him. This was after they called his mom for assistance. I mean, who was making these calls? Just let the dude keep driving wherever he feels like it, even though you have him completely trapped in two spots for 30-45 minutes. That's like having a perp pull into a storage unit, sitting there and watching him, and then letting him just drive out into populated areas

You wanna know something else? The only reason he was stopped is because he crashed into a ditch. They did nothing to stop him. What if he would've driven into the city? Then, after 200 bullets going God knows where (from SWAT and multiple officers), the guy accidentally got grazed and just ended up quitting.

I could've done a better job. These cops need to be held accountable for actually PUTTING the public at risk instead of preventing it

Is it possible he ended up in the ditch trying to avoid spike strips and/or a roadblock?

I kind of understand why they didn't stop him on the Causeway. It would have been a danger to all the nearby motorists and traffic would have been fricked for hours. Maybe the bridge being in two parishes also slowed the response. I don't know...

Put the bath salts down

They literally had the guy trapped on both the causeway and the Huey P, and just let him keep going.....only to get in a "shootout" where they indiscriminately fired off 200 rounds at nothing in a neighborhood

I would have expected the OT to have her backpage ad and her social media accounts up by now, along with somebody saying they went to HS with the perp. I am a bit disappointed. Who among us will make the OT great again?

So he and the woman met online and when she went to meet up with her, he pretended to be a cop arresting her for prostitution? I wonder if she was a call girl or one of those chicks from a craigslist ad..

It most probably wasn't a dating site. My guess would be CL or Backpage. That would explain why she 1) got in a dude's car, and 2) was okay with a dude going on a "date" with a trailer hooked up

whoever downvoted all the negative comments about the causeway cops, get your head out of your arse.

I drive that bridge regularly. That "police" force is full of chickenshit people. This is at least the third time in the last few years someone being actively pursued by the police has been able to drive the length of the bridge, and he was apparently towing a goddamn trailer.

its a 2 lane bridge, 24 miles long, with one way off. how hard can it really be to not let someone get away?

I've called numerous times to report dangerous a-hole drivers, giving car descriptions only to watch them whiz past the cops sitting in the crossovers. But they won't hesitate to pull a minivan full of kids over because Mom's brake tag is expired by a month.

this event just further proves what a joke that crew really is.

So they let the guy drive all of the way across the causeway, all of the way through Metairie, across the Huey P, take a left, and then go to Avondale before getting in a shootout? What kind of chicken shite police work is that. The story is either BS, or this is a complete failure on the part of four police departments

I was wondering this as well. How did he make it across the causeway and huey p????? seems like they could've easily set a road block along the way.

Just read a NOLA.com article (so consider the source) that said he was at MP 9 before the Causeway cops found him, so he was about seven miles past the drawbridge.
