They hit him three times, but that's still pretty pathetic shooting.
JP Sheriff Newell Norman defended the poor accuracy by saying that the truck was on its passenger side in fairly deep ditch and the nut was in the passenger side floorboard, while the cops were at grade and had moved their perimeter back while they tried to negotiate (since they obviously couldn't kill this a-hole).

I know two JPSO SWAT guys that can hit a 6" steel plate at 50 yards all day long with a Glock 17. Every shot. I've seen them hit it at 100 probably 75% of the time. I guess nobody called to wake them up
IIRC, cops only hit what they're shooting at with 10% of the bullets that come out. They hit him zero times out of 500+ rounds. Where did those bullets go?
And to think....they had the chance to stop this multiple times, and instead, chose to endanger the public. They let the guy drive from Mandeville to Avondale (50 miles and just under an hour drive). They shot 500+ times at nothing. They didn't stop him from doing anything. He wrecked his own truck (which stopped the chase), and then just gave up after the cops got tired of shooting.
Such a massive failure, it's hard to believe this is real. He shouldn't have made it off of the causeway where he was literally trapped for 30 minutes.

Wow. By the time that idiot got into the neighborhood they should have had some type of plan in place to stop him.. Instead, it looked like a fricking parade. At a certain point, there should have been a cut off in the number of cop cars following him. There was enough time to get some type of plan in place.

They needed a flamethrower since they couldn't kill with over 500 shots fired. My fav video is one where 70 YES 70 police cars are chasing him coming off the Huey P Long Bridge.

And not one of them thought to get in front of the guy

This is truly baffling to me how they let him off the bridge. instead they let him drive the streets where he could have killed any number of people with his truck/trailer combo.
The only thing I can imagine is that there were other drivers on the causeway as well and maybe they were trying not to endanger them.
