How many interactions with bums do you think the shooter has had? Unless he's a serial bum killer, it doesn't occur to you that perhaps something happened that caused him to react differently this time?
people here are going to defend the shooter no matter what comes out. If he was armed why not say it already?

Do you find being a panhandling bum less offensive than being someone who carries and who possibly happens to be annoyed by panhandling bums?

i have a hard time picturing a scenario where a 24 yo is so threatened by a 61 yo homeless man that he has to shoot him

i agree that bums are aggravating but i just doubt that he went that wild that quick. obviously i dont have all the facts though

We already had a story on here about a month or so ago about a woman being stabbed and killed by panhandler outside of a gas station in Houston. I remember the news article described the bum as "soliciting money" and "threatening people with a knife" (i.e. creative term for "armed robbery")

It gets even more foolish when you see her twitter. Black Lives Matter in the bio, plenty of ghetto content. I'd be blown away if she didn't have an agenda and or was telling the whole truth.

The moment she said “Yes, he did ask for money. Yes, maybe he did come a little into my space to speak to me, but that’s not a death sentence,”, "I knew".

I didn't say there is no way this guy just randomly murdered in cold blood. I said if you made me choose the more likely scenario between that and a bum overstepping and threatening someone, I'd choose the latter.

You clearly think an aggressive panhandler is more predictable than the average CC citizen. That's moronic, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I have no idea what happened, or what triggered this, but I do know that It was bound to happen sooner or later. You can’t expect people to be allowed to get in people’s personal space, during a pandemic no less, and aggressively work people for their money and something like this not eventually take place. This is why I put this on this city’s leadership, or rather lack thereof, who allow this shite to go on unchecked all day long in this city everywhere you go. It’s out of control, and eventually something like this is going to happen.

quote:

The panhandling in BR is way out of control to begin with, especially around the College Drive, Acadian area. I have no idea what happened in this case, but I do know that this was bound to happen sooner or later. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been approached by brazen panhandlers in this city, some of whom will get right up in your personal space to give you their sob story. To me, this falls on the overall lack of leadership in this city that allows this shite to go on on every corner panhandlers decide to work, every single day in this city. You simply cannot get off the interstate without a panhandler working a corner in BR. That’s a fact, and it’s nonsense.

And there's another post I can't find at the moment that expresses the same frustration as my family's. That is, my wife has been harassed with our small children as they are in a vulnerable spot (getting into the car with groceries) by, at best, pushy rude intimidating criminals.

Yes, I said criminals. They are breaking the law and, at best, harassing good people. The city leadership's response? Silence besides some platitudes about wooden tokens to hand out. Some stores have added or stepped up security but there's nothing being done by city leadership to solve the problem or protect upstanding, tax paying citizens.

So now we have the inevitable result of these conditions.

The young lady felt threatened, and took shelter in her car. She didn’t feel a need to call the cops. Fine.

But she doesn’t know what happened right afterwards. That’s the thing, the deceased may have gone too far and threatened the wrong person. The DA should investigate and in time the facts will come out.

Meanwhile the panhandling problem, the drug problem and the gang problem gets more and more out of control.

I'm sure there's some video footage of the incident considering where it happened. We are all just speculating at this point.

Panhandlers 100% on purpose get into your space, it is a tactic to subtly intimidate you and up their chances of you giving them something. Many of them take it way past the subtle part.

When I have a child that is younger than 2 with me and I am buckling them in a car seat and you approach me while I am doing that you are scum. That is why I scream at them to get the frick away from me every single time. You want to come at me when I have young children and I don't know if you are armed or on drugs or whatever....frick you.

“Buckley was arrested earlier in 2020 and charged with aggravated assault and domestic abuse. He also has prior arrests for burglary and assault.”

You can’t imagine a scenario in which someone who has a pattern of violence would be violent toward someone who confronted him?

City and parish law enforcement’s response is basically to wash their hands.

The minimal amount being done is telling them to move along or writing a ticket and they end up right back at the corner shortly.

Are state and local laws written to prevent this kind of thing (a holdover to Jim Crow stuff which has been tossed) or are they just unwilling to devote resources to something which is a net drain on their budget?

My general belief has been that this guy had blustered up to everyone before now and thought he had a strategy.

Worked until someone said “He’s comin right for us!” and perforated him.

98% of the violence in BR is hood beef.

That Rodney Peairs situation was an anomaly and happened almost 30 years ago.

Here now. Quiet. No shrine to the bum. No police tape. No “protestors”

I did get fussed for not standing ON a line. But that’s it.

Guess this hurricane bullshite has the Dems allocating their resources elsewhere. Plus the people in the south won’t put up with their BS

Look at the numbers and locations of murders the past 30 years.

Most murders are heavily in NBR and are turf wars or other gang beefs.

Lots of murders in SBR were one of several serial killers or were some form of domestic situation like the car dealer killing his ex rather than paying her off.
