Didn’t the wheelchair panhandler on College end up stabbing someone a few months back?
Posted on 8/25/20 at 7:13 am to Mike da Tigah
Panhandlers 100% on purpose get into your space, it is a tactic to subtly intimidate you and up their chances of you giving them something. Many of them take it way past the subtle part.
I wouldn’t use the term “White Knight” here as that tends to imply some dude jumping in where he doesn’t belong in hopes of favorable treatment later. Some here will say he should have “kept to himself” but as men we have a duty to defend the weak against predators. I see zero issue with him speaking up for two young girls. I had this EXACT scenario happen in Charlotte a couple of years back. Panhandler was all up on a couple of college girls by a bar. I just said something lot the effect of leave them alone and the guy turned on me like a rabid dog. Was not the reaction I was expecting frankly and I thought we were going to go for a minute until a couple of other guys stepped in and the bum took off. I will wait for the facts to come out on this one but can see him being totally in the right here.

I have beem hassled for money easily a hundred times in BR. Never really felt in danger. Obviously there must be more to the story, but it is odd that it turned into a deadly altercation. The fact that no arrests were made tends to show that the responding police did not believe a crime was committed.

Kaylee definitely lives off of Perkins

STFU Kaylee and quit opining about the justification of the shooting till you know all the facts.
“I don’t like confrontation”. Well you might feel differently about this shooting if you were actually confronted by the deceased.
Stupid count.
kaylee has more facts than you do

I am sure the area businesses have cameras to back up the shooter’s story.
If not he would have been charged by now.

Keep giving them food. If everyone is kind and gives them food, they will move on. They aren’t hungry. They want money

So the OT can opine with zero first hand knowledge, but this girl needs to shut up?
Sure, something else could have happened that she didn’t see. But as others have stated, security camera footage should clear it up.

frick that. I carry a gun and my duty is to protect me and my family only. Going around and white knighting for others is likely to ruin your life in 2020. You'll save the wrong woke person or shoot the wrong "gentle giant" who was just about to go to med school. The chick this guy intervened for is going to be the star witness for the plaintiff family in their civil suit.
If we have learned anything this year, it is that you and you alone are responsible for your own safety.

Must be something like that. Born and raised in this city for most of my life, and this panhandling is a fairly new phenomenon. You never saw this in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s. It simply wasn’t a fact of life as it clearly is today, and it’s clearly out of control today. It’s like society is at their mercy, and I’m not unfeeling to people struggling, but this isn’t struggling. This is a racket, and seems pretty organized with the same people working their corners like they have territories, and punch a clock. One guy is working one off ramp, and another person working the other off ramp. One person works one shopping center and another works another shopping center. The real issue for me though is when you get out of your vehicle in a parking lot and are approached by some super sketchy individual working you for cash. It’s quite honestly something people should not have to endure in this city, and for people just passing through, filling up or whatever at a gas station, it’s got to be a real warning sign to leave with the quickness and keep on driving.

You'd see the occasional homeless person in some areas 20+ years ago but nothing close to this.

What you felt or didn’t feel “as a young woman”, whatever that means, has nothing to do with the guy that pulled the trigger unless he just nailed him from across the parking lot while you were talking with the bum.

Kaylee spoke to the departed. What else? I bet 20 people did the same thing.

This.
I am not a tough guy but I do not allow panhandlers into my personal space. I do this for a few reasons. One reason is it is a horrible habit to allow someone who is potentially unstable to get close enough to do harm. The second reason is they annoy the hell out of me and I don't have a problem with being less than friendly with them.
Many years ago I chased a very aggressive panhandle off with a tire iron. I watched him approach my co worker in an aggressive manner and he followed him to the vehicle. My coworker told him no to his request for money and tried to get between him and the vehicle as soon as he opened the door. I grabbed a tire iron and let loose alot of foul language letting him know he needed to get back. Panhandle skunked off.
Told my co worker that he needed to get his head out of his arse and be aware of his surroundings. We had to pass through the one of the worst areas of Baton rouge on a daily basis.

So this girl was being harassed by a bum, a passerby redirects the bum's attention, allowing her to go on about her day without further confrontation, leaves before the incident happened, and is now an important witness and defending the bum?
Posted on 8/25/20 at 7:59 am to Dominate308
Sounds like Kaylee is trying to throw the guy who defended her under the bus.

Exactly, and they stood out like a sore thumb too. I have to imagine there is some substance abuse and mental stuff going on, but it’s not like we didn’t have the same back then. It’s just that I don’t think we put up with it like we do today,
You know what you never see, or at least I never see? You never see a cop questioning them or doing anything at all about it. I’m not saying that's a police issue, but I do think it’s from the top down issue.
