Yeah the Pediatrician we go to is top notch but the clinic he works at is 90% Medicaid. They fit us in for an appointment at anytime.
I don’t have a problem with the kids getting pediatric care because it’s not their fault. And we’ve never had any issue with the parents in the waiting room.

Exactly. Get mad at the lazy parents for their poor life choices, etc. Don't get mad at the poor child.
At least children on CHIP will get medical care when they need it. And not have parents wait to bring them in for something that could be serious because they don't have health coverage.

It was surprising when I first learned that the illegals here can just waltz in to the UMC’s and other “charity” hospitals and receive a bunch of treatment billed to, in some cases, probably fake or “borrowed” patient information.
ANYONE can waltz into a hospital and get free care. Hospitals are required by law to treat anyone who shows up to the ER, whether they’ve got a cold, cancer, or just crazy. This applies to all hospitals, not just charity hospitals. Illegals are just part of the crowd. Why do you think Tylenol costs you $20/pill in the hospital - your insurance is paying for everyone else’s care. That is our system, people with money are going to pay for it no matter how it’s structured.

Which pediatrician you go to?

So I looked it up, and approximately 1.4 million people in LA are on medicaid/CHIP. That is about 1/3 of the population.
Thanks Odumbf*ck.
Thanks Mr. Honor Code.

I pay for MDVIP so I don’t have to deal with that. Well worth it to keep the waiting room clean and empty.

LA is one of the poorest states in the Union.

If the gov'mint wants to give me free stuff, you really expect me to turn it down?

We would all save money if we did a Canadian type system. Plus Canadians live longer than us and spend less per capita on healthcare. By those two basic and universally accepted measures Canada has a better health care system than us.

You do realize that the children of poor working parents could be on Medicaid/CHIP?
If CHIP would have been around when I was a kid....my siblings and I could have had health care coverage(we only went to the doctor for vaccines and when absolutely needed). And my dad would have had to take off work to bring us to the doctor. For us...my dad made too much for medicaid and his work didn't offer health insurance and he couldn't afford it on his own.

You don't just happen to hear specifics like that of 4 different families conversation, in a row, unless making effort being a nosey a-hole

You would think he would be paying more attention to his own child instead of eavesdropping and worrying about other people's business.

Where did I say that I don't want children to get healthcare?
Saying it's outrageous to have 1/3 of a states population on a needs based Healthcare plan in no way correlates to saying that children should not receive medical treatment.

I'm sure the pediatrician office was as peaceful as can be and all the children were quiet as a church mouse.

Two things--
1) I am tired of hearing health providers complain about medicaid reimbursement because I have yet to meet a poor doctor or pharmacist and I know a lot of their revenue is medicaid
2) It is astonishing how many opioids Louisiana taxpayers buy through medicaid-millions and millions of pills-we need to end that. People on medicaid can get those prescriptions for 50 cents---50 cents. You tell me how many are getting the scripts and then reselling the pills on the street.

It isn't about the children getting care or not. It's about people who do not know how to act in public or let their kids run rampant.

Do you have the same outrage over the NFIP subsidized home flood insurance in S.La?
