he failed

there isn't really anyway to get around that

EXACTLY. There's no amount of excuses you can make that will change the fact that he never even attempted to engage the shooter.

Apparently doing nothing was his job... bc that's what he did.

Are you 100% sure? There are multiple reports, some say he did, some say he moved around.

You're choosing to believe 1 side, the side you first heard. You made your mind up and seemingly nothing will change that for you.

this isn't his job

My point is that he wasn't engaging/behaving as if there was a shooter outside, nor was he making any attempt to get inside the building. He did nothing, as far as we know, because he was confused?

Being confused is understandable. Doing nothing during that time looks really bad.

Why did students tell him the shooter was outside then?

Who gives a frick about what students may or may not have told him. GO TOWARD THE SOUND OF THE GUNFIRE.

Panic and disarray.

So you're saying it may not be so simple to figure out where the shooter is like all these posters who have never been involved with a mass shooting are saying?

And they probably weren't stationed within walking distance of the active shooter. I'm sure they spent the first 4 minutes or so getting to the scene... where this guy was taking cover and assessing while people were dying.

After reading Wiki, they arrived at the building within 3 minutes, entered the barricaded building (shooter chained the doors) within 5 minutes.

Stoneman Douglas was not locked and an officer was stationed there. Just terrible response.

You don't know that he never attempted. You assume he didn't because that was the first report you heard.

I may be remembering this wrong, but according to the Sheriff the shooting lasted 6 minutes and school resource officer went into building after 4 minutes. But apparently the video feed was off and they were sending him to parts of the building the shooter had already passed up and left. Also, shooter was running towards the end, not walking around like Terminator.

But I don't know, I've heard he never went in, and I've heard he only went in during last couple minutes. I don't know

I'm not necessarily calling this guy a coward, or a bad cop, but he's more than likely one of those things. That said, there are worse Scott Peterson's out there

ETA: FWIW, I have no idea how I react in that situation. I'd like to think I'd move towards the shots and do something, but I don't think I can say definitively that I would without putting myself in that situation

Why do so many involved in mass shootings say there were multiple shooters?

You're willfully ignoring these things that cause complete chaos in these situations. Gunshots echo, you THINK it's easy to know where the shots are coming from, but it's not always that easy. You just want to ignore that.

No. I know he never attempted... because within 4+ minutes someone who attempted would have engaged the shooter.

His lawyer's statement says he was trained to seek cover and assess. Which means that's his defense. Which means he didn't do shite.

If he attempted, he still failed because he never engaged the shooter.

I'm sure there was plenty of confusion.

That doesn't change the fact that he failed at his one job.

So because he never found that shooter, that 100% means he didn't try...lol

I'd like to think that I'd have appropriate training that would kick in that would propel me towards the fight.

You don't think that Sheriffs would have bragged about his officer engaging the suspect if the officer did engage? The city cops complained that the sheriffs stood around while they engaged.
