Again, I don't think the fact that schools are gun free zones can be under stated. The whole idea is the police will protect you in these places, so we have more police activity in them additionally.
If the police are not going to change their protocol compared to other situations where citizens can protect themselves, then things need to change.

Most schools are long hallways, it's not like it was an open air mall where the shooter could be anywhere. You go into the building and follow the shots, follow the people running away. This wasn't a sniper in Afghanistan no one knew where he was.
Well I've heard he stayed in same spot for 4 minutes, and I've heard today he moved around to several locations, but it was 4 minutes till he went in. Again, do we believe the Sheriff? Or do we wait and hope video and radio evidence come out?

At Virginia Tech, the police entered the classroom building within 5 minutes. They were getting very close to the shooter when he killed himself. The shooter had a lot more ammunition on him, so he could have kept shooting people for a lot longer. The policy of immediately entering the building probably saved lives that day.

And they probably weren't stationed within walking distance of the active shooter. I'm sure they spent the first 4 minutes or so getting to the scene... where this guy was taking cover and assessing while people were dying.
