re: Interesting article: Homebody millennials pushing "stay home, drink, watch Netflix" trend

This trend makes sense in the context of greater marijuana use. People sit around and get stoned. Not a lot of ambition to go out and do anything.
If I still smoked weed I would rather be at Highland road park playing frisbee golf or elsewhere in nature. Being high at home in front of Netflix seems depressing.

I've been hoping that the recent boom with craft breweries leads to a neighborhood pub type thing like a lot of western Europe has.

At least in my friend group, we host a lot of house parties. Everyone alternates having people over for food, drinks, watching the game, etc. I'd much rather spend time with people I actually like that have to deal with randos when I'm trying to relax.

It ain't just millennials.
My wife and I are both 50 and it is getting much more common for her to want to Waitr and stay in than go out. We do still go out, but not as much as we could (or used to).

This is a disturbing trend that I think will have long-term negative effects.
yes, the lack of wage growth will have huge negative effects.

Just an extension of how things have been changing with the times. A few years ago kids in general quit doing traditionally social things like hanging out, playing neighborhood sports, getting into small mischief things, and actually talking - instead staying inside texting, playing video games, or doing social media. Now it looks like it is growing into (as they grow up) not going out on the town, eating out, shopping at the mall, etc. They just aren't as comfortable socializing or don't value it like many other generations of us did and do. I have a feeling that investing in about anything that is "home served" is going to be huge in 10-15 years much like "served fast" was big 20 years ago.

That’s the natural cycle. Old people stay in because the young punks ruin everything you love. If this new trend keeps up there will be nothing for the next generation to ruin and they’ll probably resort to mob violence.

Whats wrong with staying home and getting drunk while cooking, eating, and fricking the ole lady? We normally stay in and cook over going out We save money and also don't have to worry about ubering home. Less bull shite with staying around the house on a saturday.

I don't think most of it is hanging out at home with friends. I think it is hanging out at home alone.

I actually prefer to have gatherings at my house but a lot of my friends would prefer to go to the bar so I don't do it as often

That's not what's happening. These people rarely leave the house at all, don't have ladies and aren't fricking anyone.

Broken link
And all things seem to point to millenials being a little more responsible with money from what I've seen

only Problem I have with all this is that I see some millennials substituting actual friends and face to face human contact with the illusion of a social circle created by social media accounts, likes, emojis, and photo posting.
That is not healthy

Well said, and that's kind of my point that I don't think I did a good job of illustrating.
