Insulation how hard is it?

I was getting sized up for a new system.
Some parts of my attic lacks insulation.
How well do those Home Repot insulation spraying systems work?

Usually as desired, I’ve rented them several times, once I got one that didn’t work but swapped it out, no problem. A great DIY project.

How young/shape are you?
My son did his. Was hot due to wearing lot clothes (may wanna wait till winter) but he said once got use to the sprayer wasn't to bad.
He was 25 and lifts religiously.

Definitely wait till winter if you’re gonna DIY it.
Very DIY-able if it’s not a complex house/attic space. I wouldn’t want to do it on a house bigger than maybe 2k square feet or where you can’t stand up anywhere in the attic.

It would be pretty easy with 2 people, but 3 would make it much easier. You need one to feed the hopper to keep the insulation pumping, one in the attic to spray it and it wouldn't hurt to have one on a ladder to feed more hose into the attic as needed or to back it out as the insulation sprayer makes their way back to the opening.

Most of the attic is well insulated. Just this one area needs be sprayed.
The heat monitor said it was around 140 degrees.

I did the attic in a previous house with one of the home depot machines and cellulose insulation. It was not bad at all but you do need to have one person for feeding the machine while you are in the attic spraying. I dont know if it's the same with fiberglass, but spraying the cellulose caused massive dust in the attic, wear a respirator and goggles.

be very careful about where the moisture condensation zone is with sprayed insulation. Rot happens fast when wood is wet

I have a similar situation over my pantry, where there is very little insulation. This winter I need to rent one of these and bump it up in the area, and get better whirlybirds to help out my old arse AC more.

Home Depot will loan you the machine for free for 24 hours if you buy 10 bags of insulation. The insulation is about $70 a bag.

If it's a small area, why not use fiberglass? Even go thickest fiberglass. Tools needed? A utility knife and a board to be under where you cut across the battens.

That's what I thought. I'm planning on insulating above my garage this fall and it's such a small area that it doesn't make sense to get the blown in stuff. A few batts of fiberglass makes way more sense to me

I insulated homes in Oklahoma during the first two summers I was in college.
It sucked arse, but it paid well.
