what about building a much smaller, sound proof or at least sound dampening enclosure inside the stadium?

I get the veterinary teams's point of view. We love Mike, but spending hours in a tiny cage is not a great way to treat such a beloved mascot.

Seems like he's disappeared from national awareness now that he no longer shows up to the games. I think if we could build a comfortable, quiet, miniature version of his actual enclosure, it would be a viable compromise. Not sure exactly where along the sideline you would put it though, or if there's a way to build it into a small area of the stadium itself

thoughts?

also, if you want to downvote because you're pissed that he's no longer brought out in his cage any more, that is not what this thread is about and doesn't help

The noise is not good for his system.

You can.pipe in live video to the scoreboard after each score.

It's a sanctuary now, arse. He's never going to go out to games. Ever.

LSU is a pussy for ending the tradition of bringing mike to the game in the cage.

No

Let him be. They’re hearing is far more sensitive than humans as it is I’m sure the vibrations and sounds outside of the stadium is confusing enough.

it's already been corrected, better question - why do your responses to every thread provide zero value to the thread?

multiple objections over this. Couldn't we use soundproof glass?

Were there any problems with the previous Mikes or is this just a case of people being offended on behalf of an animal that might be totally cool with going to the games.

it definitely has to do with the PITA types that raise hell over anything, but honestly, would you, as a wild animal, want to sit in a cage for four hours with tons of noise etc?

This is an attempt at a compromise between the two parties

Mike never stayed for kickoff. He was always taken back after the opponents ran out of the locker room.

And don’t let anyone lie to you about “Mike was spooked by the fireworks”. There was a simple solution, once both teams leave the field after warmups, Mike would leave the stadium. That way he wouldn’t be there for the fireworks.

Why not just leave him in the massive sanctuary he has now?

I'm pretty sure opponents will still know the mascot is a tiger without having a live tiger inside the stadium.

There is so much fricked up with a ton these responses. Yes, you are 100% right, Mike NEVER stayed for the whole game. So it's not like he would be out there for long.

And the bullshite about his hearing sensitivity????? WTF? He hears ALL kinds of noises every day that tigers in the wild don't hear. He lives off North Stadium Drive for Christ's sake. He hears kids screaming, cars honking, jets flying over Tiger Stadium, the cannon being fired, the yelling during the game, and yes, the fireworks. Do you really think that because he isn't in the stadium he doesn't hear all that shite? Damn.

They used to take Leo the Lion to UNA games. But they had a car accident that broke his back and eventually led to his death. They haven't done it with any of there lions since.

You’re so uneducated about sanctuary requirements. Do you homework.

Now this is really a great idea! Outside the box solution, best of both! Plus a loud roar, that would be awesome.

This comes up every year. A few years back I recommended building a cat walk between his sanctuary and the stadium. Where the walk ends, somewhere in the north upper, build a platform and feed him some goodies to imprint this as his routine. Enclose it with glass or give him headphones like the players have when they walk down the hill. Simple fix.
