If the amount of children justify it, would the parish still be responsible for building adequate school facilities in the new St. George?
The EBR parish government does not build schools. The school districts build and maintain schools.

What is the population of St. George?
About 86,000

This is what will likely happen unless EBR school districts passes a significant overhaul of districting/school of choice, which can’t be done because of the desegregation mandates and LHSAA policy.
What are you talking about?

3 have the people of EBR excluding people in Zachary, central, and baker vote for it. (No chance it will pass)
Everyone in the parish votes. A majority vote wins. And yes it will be tough.

Don't buy those stats, will be close, KEEP VOTING FOR ST GEORGE IF YOU SUPPORT IT!

My thoughts exactly.
Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Hoover, and Homewood = your kid is ultra safe, has tremendous educational and extracurricular opportunities, and almost assuredly goes to college.
Birmingham where those municipalities broke away from = crime infested shithole with some of the worst graduation rates in the country.

the nicest neighborhood in St George wouldn’t crack the 10 ten of the nicest neighborhoods in BRara proper.
Name 10 neighborhoods in BR that are nicer than CCLA, Santa Maria, Mallard Lakes, Highland Crossing and Kensington Estates. That's also not including all the nice houses that sit on Highland road.

I think the whole no new taxes thing backfired. Democrats are typically for more taxes because they are getting more.
I've never viewed the whole St. George vote as Democrats vs Republicans as many on this board seem to view it. I understand why that thought is there, but to me it's really people in the St. George boundaries vs Baton Rouge. The majority of Democrats I know that live in St. George are voting yes (for the record I'm no liberal and I already voted yes). And I know some older Republicans that are voting no. There are plenty of Republicans that are against St. George. Richard Lipsey, John Mathis, and their group of businessmen called Put Louisiana First are all conservative and are against it. The Louisiana First Republicans group has been outspoken against it. BRAC is against it, and while I don't think they are officially aligned with the Republican party, everyone I know that works there are Republicans other than the one African American man, and I can't remember the last time that group has come up supporting a democratic candidate during an election. To me, if this thing should fail it would be because of the Republican opposition. The Democrats with their "muh racism" talk really have done nothing but helped St. George because they pissed off the residents there.

Have rich people ever drawn such lines with any long-term success, i.e. without being invaded?
Seems to me you're building BR into a chicken-shite version of St. Louis. Why?
So you can have suburban random shooter high schools instead of urban gang shooter high schools? It's profoundly misguided.
Shirley you are trolling?

Good post. All those neighborhoods and you still left out UClub.

Why do you keep playing the race card? You racist, bro?

Real money in BR is in Steele Place, Webb Park, Goodwood, Bocage, etc.

BR and Birmingham are pretty similar in that respect. Our suburbs aren't as nice or developed though.

It’s not even close. Plus the terrain of the Birmingham suburbs is awesome. I love that area in the fall.

Obviously there's nothing that we can do about the terrain or weather but I do think that the BR suburbs are developing quite a bit. The difference is that they had a late start compared to others because the schools were largely segregated into the 1990s and SBR provided a fairly suburban lifestyle.
It certainly will be interesting to see what happens with all the St George stuff.

Paraphrasing the St. George effort spokesperson and attorney Drew Murrell, "we don't need to build a city hall. There are a lot of vacant Rite-Aids out there." The opposition lost their freaking mind when he said that.

Tommy the guys right.
At first until the city gets off its feet there no reason to secure property and build an overpriced cluster like the downtown library.
They could lease an existing empty commercial building to get off the ground.
Once they figure out the space they will need not only for today, but the future they can build a new city hall.

When y’all vote for STG, be sure to vote Mike Strain OUT as AG commissioner.
He’s single handedly thwarting progress on the fledgling cannabis industry
Louisiana’s climate is near perfect to grow and develop that industry

I voted yes for St G, and against Mike Strain. He's had enough time at the trough.
