I’m for their right to leave, but the nicest neighborhood in St George wouldn’t crack the 10 ten of the nicest neighborhoods in BRara proper.

It’s really one step above a flood prone trailer park.

Imagine it as a flood prone trailer park where the residents pay extra to have some ditches built to keep it from flooding. They also pay extra to have their grass cut.

The ditch money is used to buy SUV's for the trailer park manager and the grass money is used to pay for high dollar catering at meetings about raising their fees.

Residents begin to approach the management, inquiring when their grass will be cut. They are told to go frick themselves, and called racists.

It is time for some new management, with skin in the game.

I predicted about 72/74 percent pass rate. People are underestimating the voters in this area vastly wanting to get out from under Broome and BR.

St. George will more than likely pass but the residents of St. George don’t have a good chance of getting their own school district.

To get their district they have to:
1 get a constitutional amendment pass (which has a good chance passing)
2 have st George vote for it (Pass easily)
3 have the people of EBR excluding people in Zachary, central, and baker vote for it. (No chance it will pass)

If the amount of children justify it, would the parish still be responsible for building adequate school facilities in the new St. George?

If it passes by 65% or more, there will be the ancillary benefit of sending a message to Broome - “clean up your shite or you may lose next time”.

There are some great hoods in Baton Rouge.....but Highland Road out near Perkins is very nice by any measure.

There are already adequate schools in the area for the amount of students who are enrolled. StG parents would have to enroll their students in local public schools to justify changing facilities.

Federal, state, and parish taxes compose practically all of the funding for a district, so the city of StG or BTR carry little burden for the facilities and salaries unless StG wanted to start an ISD. An Independent school district and another district can co-exist in the same geographical area but rarely do because it is more cost effective to count it sunk cost then sell the property, plant and equipment. This is what will likely happen unless EBR school districts passes a significant overhaul of districting/school of choice, which can’t be done because of the desegregation mandates and LHSAA policy.

Are you asking if incorporated suburban areas have ever been successful in meeting the needs of residents?

Have you ever been to any suburban area outside of Louisiana?
