Little known fact. During planning stages, I-12 was considered for a route north of BR similar to how it passed north of New Orleans. We could have had the loop from the start, and kept heavy commercial or true interstate traffic out of town. Oh well.

Proof right here that you always look at what Baton Rouge (and to a larger extent, Louisana as a whole) is doing and then do the exact opposite if you want to be happy and prosperous.

It's kind of like always betting against Peej.

Also, Woody Dumas was well liked and a popular mayor. He wanted to improve the streets in BR.

As a result voters passed a tax to widen streets north of Florida Blvd. Evangeline, Winbourne, Prescott were among the easy/west streets widened. Woodale, Ardenwood, Lobdell were among the N/S streets widened (all north of Florida). The results can be seen today as NBR has a nice grid pattern of four lane streets.

Phase 2 was south of Florida St. unfortunately our “friends” in NBR voted against it SBR was left behind.

If memory serves streets south of Florida set for improvement were Lobdell, Dalrymple, Lee, anc others.

If anyone has the list of those projects it would make an interesting read.

Baton Rouge was on a different trajectory when Dumas was mayor. Some infrastructure decisions reflected a different era with regards to urban planning and development. He got the zoo, the centroplex, and a lot of other things in motion.

The city didn't see similar public development until Mark Drennen and Foster pushed the capital complex into being and remade downtown.

Let’s just say what I read yesterday. Call it 350K early votes cast in Louisiana divided by 64 parishes is some 5,468 votes cast in each parish. Well, 22K here.

I upvoted nice history about the Dumas, Drennen and Foster years.

Have rich people ever drawn such lines with any long-term success, i.e. without being invaded?

Oh look, someone else that thinks a group of guys got together at their house on Highland one night and drew these lines when the lines have been indirectly drawn over the past several years by the lack of annexation into the city of Baton Rouge. How about doing some research before spouting off about something you clearly know zero about, bro? I know its asking alot
