Based on the data, yes, that seems to be the case.

Please present the data.

Again, the article states 92% occupancy rate

What article? I must have missed it.

his is about changing the thermostat when the room is not occupied. Are you retarded?

Ok, genius. Why would a room not be occupied? Either because it is blocked off, or it is awaiting turnover. With a 15% labor shortage, you are assuming no room blocks. Is that your contention?

quote:

Is this happening? Again, link?

I provided you 2 links to the BLS statistically proving a labor shortage. I've stayed at hotels in April, where services were cut back, and per their letter, DUE TO LABOR SHORTAGE. This was at Disney World. The services were limited to floor vacuum and changing of towels. All other services were not provided. Not bed turn down, counter wipe downs, etc... Those were only done after an occupancy checked out.

That's doesn't necessarily mean you are improving your bottom line

It is A technique, amongst a myriad of others to reduce costs in a time of down business. Others being reduction of services, automation, etc...

Is there anything to indicate otherwise?

So 60+ days ago which is an eternity in this environment and that, again, has nothing to do with occupancy

If you recall, my initial post established that there is a labor shortage due to biden bucks. You said no. Why else would there be a labor shortage currently, in this country?

And yes, sustained unavailability of labor will result in reduced occupancy. That's common sense. That is cited in multiple hotel reports on ways to reduce cost. So, if we just use our brain, just a little bit, we can deduce that... if the leisure and hospitality industry is experiencing an increase in unemployment (which the BLS proves it is), and has been doing so consistently for many months (which it has), and that one of the ways to reduce expense is to block off rooms (which it is, if you need more links let me know) then we can surmise by simple addition of A+B that the reduction of available labor has led to hotels reducing occupancy to cut back on unneeded expense.

Incorrect, though there a multiple factors causing the labor shortage. Increased unemployment benefits being one

In this environment, no we can't

quote:

if the leisure and hospitality industry is experiencing an increase in unemployment

The opposite is happening, just slower than optimally

quote:

that one of the ways to reduce expense is to block off rooms

Reducing expenses at the "expense" (for lack of a better term) of revenue is retarded.

You have presented exactly zero evidence of unneeded expenses by having all rooms available.

He'll get hung up on some insignificant point he can't understand and Chris will post walls of text. Oweo wins.
